When we started planning our road trip to Atlanta, GA, I wanted to find a great hotel that was close to Georgia Aquarium, was near great restaurants and most of all, would fit my family of 5 comfortably. While there were plenty to choose from, I was instantly drawn to the Hilton Garden Inn Atlanta Downtown, a contemporary hotel in the vibrant area of Atlanta’s Centennial Park District.
We arrived late Monday afternoon and were pleased to find an attached parking garage. While they do require you to pay for either self-parking or valet, you can rest assured that your car is secure and there are plenty of parking spaces. We loved that we didn’t have to take the car out once during our visit, as everything we wanted to see was within walking distance (score!). The Hilton Garden Inn is just blocks from The World of Coca-Cola, The National Center for Civil and Human Rights, The SkyView Ferris wheel, CNN Center and the College Football Hall of Fame.
Walking into the lobby, we were immediately drawn to the beautiful decor. First impressions are everything for us, when it comes to a hotel. The lobby was clean, inviting and modern. The staff was incredibly friendly and checked us in quickly and efficiently. After hours in the car, we couldn’t have asked for a better and more welcoming experience.
We were placed in a room on the penthouse level, which the girls were so excited about. For them, the higher up, the better. In order to access the higher floors of the elevator, you must have a room key card. When it comes to my family, security is everything and I was so pleasantly surprised by this feature. We took the elevator up and walked to the end of the hallway where we were greeted by a floor to ceiling window, overlooking downtown Atlanta. While the girls are usually in a hurry to get into a hotel room when we first arrive at any hotel, they stopped to admire the view and took lots of pictures. It was breathtaking.
The room was the perfect size. 2 very comfortable beds, a large flat screen tv, a comfy chair, a desk, a coffee maker, a microwave and a mini-fridge. And the view… oh the view. It was just as beautiful in the day as it was at night. The downtown lights were gorgeous and provided us with an incredible atmosphere throughout our stay. There is something about city lights that make everything that much more exciting.
A Great Welcome.
Not only did we have this cute face prominently featured on the wall of our hallway, but shortly after we arrived, the Director of Sales and Marketing, Anthony, came up to introduce himself and make sure everything was to our satisfaction. He left the girls some really great gifts which was totally unexpected and so appreciated. He was really very helpful and made sure we knew where everything was and what we should try to see while we were in town. He definitely made us feel welcome and took the time to make sure we had everything we needed. It’s personalized service like that, that confirmed our choice of hotel.
Kids Eat Free.
A HUGE perk for us was The City View Room, located within the hotel. The breakfast was SO GOOD and I loved that kids eat free. You can choose from a large variety of breakfast foods or place an order for french toast, pancakes or an omelet. Eat as much as you’d like, all for one price. They had everything you can think of including yogurt, cereal, fresh fruit, eggs, bacon, sausage, potatoes, danish, bagels… even fresh orange juice and coffee. The french toast and pancakes were some of the best we’ve ever had and both came with a huge side of strawberries and whipped cream. YUM!
On Tuesday, after a long and fun day at Georgia Aquarium, we were able to spend some time walking around the heart of the Centennial Park District. Anthony told us about a playground in Centennial Park which Falynn couldn’t have been more excited about. There was so much to do and it was all within walking distance. So, not only did we get to see everything but we also got to spend a lot of quality family time together as we walked to each destination.
Let’s face it, a vacation isn’t a vacation without a pool, at least for my kids. Although the temperature dropped to the 30’s while we were in Atlanta (brrr), the girls were still able to swim in the indoor, heated pool. When it gets warmer, they also have an outdoor, rooftop pool with a breathtaking view of Downtown Atlanta.
There is not one thing we didn’t love about Hilton Garden Inn Atlanta Downtown, except that we weren’t there longer. If you’re planning a trip to Atlanta, we highly recommend it, whether it’s for business or for pleasure. We know you’ll love it as much as we did!
