Every year my girls can’t wait to wake up on Christmas Eve and get their bake on.  It’s become one of our favorite family traditions.  Together, we bake the yummiest chocolate chip cookies, pack them up and deliver them to our favorite neighbors, fresh out of the oven.

About 4 years ago, one of our neighbors who is like a Grandpa to our girls, joined in the fun. Every year he bakes and ices cookies for our girls and walks over to deliver him. The girls think they are so yummy and especially love that he adds little candies on top.  I love the heart that goes into them.

While they may look like regular ol’ chocolate chip cookies, these are definitely not ordinary.  They are packed with oats, chocolate, nuts and tons of love.  We switch things up every year and swap the milk chocolate chips for white chocolate chips, or use pecans instead of walnuts.  We even add a little secret something to give it some added spice… cinnamon or espresso powder!  Everyone is always asking us for the recipe, so this year, I figured we would share it, in hopes that you will make them at home with your little ones.

These cookies are so yummy on their own, or with a glass of milk, chocolate milk or almond milk!  So print out the recipe below and get to baking!  The only requirement is that you share them with someone you love or someone that can use an extra reason to smile!  It makes these cookies, and the tradition, that much sweeter.
