Now that we’ve found a few smoothies we love, we decided to kick it up a notch, adding fresh fruit and other fun toppings. Smoothie bowls, where have you been all my life? My kids can’t get enough (and neither can Mom and Dad)! Since we are incorporating less dairy and more plants this year, we are making smarter choices when it comes to ingredients. It’s just one of the reasons that we love Silk. Silk helps us to cut down on dairy while enjoying the recipes we love and helps us make healthier choices.
Silk’s Progress is Perfection Campaign
Health is hard, but feeling healthier doesn’t have to be. Silk’s Progress is Perfection campaign fights the notion that “extreme” is the only path to being healthier, small victories are still victories. Their campaign fits perfectly with our journey, proving that you don’t have to cut all of your favorite foods out at the same time, but rather, slowly, making the transition to a healthier lifestyle easier to adapt to.
We cut out meat in December and milk and eggs in January. This month we are cutting down on cheese and sugary desserts so finding healthier replacements has been at the top of our priority list. We love that Silk is dairy-free and lactose free and provides purposeful nutrition for our family. We enjoy either Silk Almond Cashewmilk Omega 3 or Silk Almond Cashewmilk Prebiotics instead of milk. Both are non-GMO, free of soy, dairy and gluten and have 3g of sugar or less per serving.
The Recipe
The reason we love smoothie bowls so much is because you can switch them up and change the ingredients however you’d like to! The flavor of the smoothie, the toppings… it’s all totally up to you. This particular combination is a favorite of our family. It’s an easy-to-make, good for you breakfast, snack or even dessert. You can use any type of dairy free milk, but we prefer NEW Silk Almond & Cashew dairy free milk with flax. It has a delicious blend of almonds & cashews with compelling nutrition. It’s only 45 calories and a good source of Omega-3 ALA. It’s available now at your local Walmart!
We top our smoothie bowl with fresh strawberries, fresh banana slices, unsweetened coconut flakes, chia seeds and our homemade vegan granola. It’s so yummy, we could probably eat this three times a day and I can’t promise that I haven’t done it at least once. Make sure to check out the full recipe below and share it with your friends! If you make it, let us know! We’d love to hear how you are making healthier choices this year. Learn more here.
