It’s funny the things that I miss most. Often when the girls achieved something big, we would take them to this little ice cream shop by our home for a treat. But we can’t do that now. Our state is under a stay home order through at least May. And while we don’t NEED to go places, I miss the freedom to be able to do so. I miss not having to disinfect every single grocery item before we can put it away. I miss impromptu trips to Target. ⁣
⁣
But... we haven’t left the house in almost three weeks. Because, eventually we will be able to get back to normal and drive wherever we want and spend money on things we probably don’t need. And our sacrifice for a month or two, or four, is so that our brave health workers and essential employees are not put in any additional danger. And to me, that’s worth the tiny inconvenience of being asked not to leave the house. ⁣

#ad This is a time of uncertainty throughout the world. As a self-employed family, we are having to make important decisions, to make sure that we are saving and spending our money wisely.⁣
⁣
After spending this past week looking at our bills, we realized that our mobile bill is way too high. We need to be able to stay connected, but we don’t need to spend a fortune to do it. We just switched Super Dad over to @mintmobile. ⁣

There are so many reasons to love Mint Mobile (and not just because Ryan Reynolds is the owner… yes, that Ryan Reynolds)! Mint Mobile lets you keep your number. They offer nationwide coverage and their 4G LTE runs on the nation’s fastest, most advanced networks. The company is online only so they cut out the middlemen and can pass the savings onto us! ⁣

Personal space? What’s that?! ⁣...

It’s officially only been a few days since the schools in our state closed, due to the coronavirus global pandemic. Our family has decided to self quarantine. We aren’t going anywhere aside from the occasional quick trip to the grocery store (and by quick, I mean 2 hours because that’s how long it took for Super Dad to pick up the handful of things on my list). Don’t worry though, he put on his gardening gloves (yes, gardening gloves) and stays a safe distance from others.⁣
⁣
There are so many things I should be doing but I need structure. Otherwise, I fall off course and my house looks like a tornado went through it. So when I saw my friend Amy had created a cleaning and organizing calendar, I asked her if I could share it with all of you and she was gracious enough to agree.⁣

Why You Should Add Childish Charm to Your Family Home

If you have kids or will be starting a family then you’ll want to think about how your home can fit around the needs of a child. It’s incredibly important to consider things like how many bedrooms you have, how safe your home is and how much effort you need to put into decorations and renovations in order to provide your kids with a wonderful upbringing. So where do you start?

A Garden

Gardens are often underestimated when it comes to how much value they give your kids. From helping in the garden and learning about plants to having a secure place to roam around and enjoy themselves, gardens are incredibly important and must be taken into consideration when you want to give your kids a good childhood.

Take a look at this article from KidsVillage.com for tips on how to get your kids involved in gardening. It often starts with getting them involved with simple tasks such as watering the plants and mowing the lawn, but it goes beyond that. It can teach your kids about responsibility, it gives them a way to exercise and be productive, and it can also get your kids to eat more vegetables since they’re growing them.

Building your kids a backyard playground is also a fantastic way to get them more active. It’s a fun way to enjoy the garden, and it’s a great way to convince them to get some exercise without having to go to a park. Backyard playgrounds aren’t the most expensive things to install, but they do take quite a bit of time and effort.

A Playroom

Playrooms are important, but you don’t need to have a large room reserved for it and you can often include it within your child’s bedroom. A playroom usually consists of a couple of simple pleasures such as a large bean bag chair, games they can play and also areas to store study materials such as books. Reading is a fantastic hobby that you should encourage your kids to pick up a book every chance they get. Even having a little tent in your playroom can add some excellent charm and gives your children more ways to imagine and get creative.

If you have the space to afford it, then you can also add some personalized touches that allow you to join your kids. For instance, a large bean bag chair from SackDaddy.com is a great way to add your own little touch to the room, and you can get plenty of toys and games that you can enjoy with your kids.

When your kids are still young, it’s important to ensure their safety in their playrooms. For instance, you’ll want to hide power sockets so that they don’t risk touching or playing with dangerous outlets, and you’ll want to install a childproof gate so that they don’t wander out of the play area either. Small things like sharp furniture corners can also be fixed by using rubber stoppers, so pay attention to the potential hazards in your child’s playroom.

A Stylish Bedroom

There are thousands of different ways to create a long-lasting and stylish bedroom for your kids. The themes involved can all depend on your child’s needs, and you can tailor them toward their tastes.

Since you may be changing your child’s bedroom on a regular basis, it’s a good idea to follow these tips to help you accommodate rapid decor arrangements.

  • Try and minimize the amount of furniture you use in your child’s bedroom. This will make it easier to move large pieces of furniture around (like their bed) which gives you easier access to the floors and walls. This means you can change up the wallpaper or paint, you can get different flooring and you can also replace their furniture in the future with larger varieties for when they grow older.
  • Stick with non-permanent solutions if you can. This means using wallpaper that is easy to remove, wall stickers that you can easily replace and also color schemes that you can change whenever you want.
  • It’s all about being modular. Modular bedroom designs are excellent because they allow you to change the way you plan your bedroom. For instance, storage can always be scaled up and upgraded for when your kids grow older, and bunk beds can serve multiple purposes. For instance, they can obviously be used as a bedroom that fits two of your children, but the bottom can also be replaced with a desk to provide more working space.

Designing the ultimate bedroom for your kids is going to be a part of the childish charm in your home. It’s a fantastic way to make the dream home that you’ve always wanted and is easy once you’ve looked at some sources of inspiration.

Having a study-like environment in their room is a fantastic way to get them to use computers more often. However, it’s good to keep in mind that there’s a big difference between using computers for leisure and using them to learn, so always look for productive ways to spend their screen time. A good example would be learning how to create art on their computer, or even using their computers to learn how technology works and research things like programming languages.

Some children might find wallpapers of their favorite cartoon characters to be tacky, or they might change their favorites so often that you’ll have to constantly switch them around. Instead, you could always add some childish charm by adding decorations that are neutral when it comes to what they represent. For instance, adding space-themed decorations and having stars dangling could be a fantastic way to help your kids learn more about astronomy, or having different types of flower decorations could create a soothing and tranquil atmosphere for your kids to enjoy.

Some childish charm is essential for providing your kids with a fantastic environment that they can feel comfortable in, learn from and be proud of.

I love these tips! We have three boys, so we definitely have some childish charm in our home. I especially love your tips for the bedroom. Limiting the big furniture is such a great idea, as is non-permanent solutions. As they grow, we definitely need to change things up.

I love a home that gives you a feeling of the whole family. There are a lot of homes you walk in and you’d never know a kid lives there. I love feeling their presence as well and I love that you gave wonderful ideas on how to do that in a creative and stylish way still!

I didn’t make my home kid friendly when my kids were born, other than sticking covers over the outlets, and putting locks on cabinets with poison. They were allowed to decorate their own rooms with whatever it was that pleased them, even if that means at the moment that my 12 year olds room is lined with barbie houses, and furniture.

Playroom is perfect for this and we always made their bedrooms their own space. Add fairy garden for outside is fun as well.

I wish we had room for a playroom in our house. I think my kids would have loved that, but at least their bedrooms are big enough that they each have play areas.
