No more packaged oatmeal for you! This easy recipe can be completely customized to your family’s taste. Choose the toppings you love and enjoy!

Ingredients

Scale
  • 2 cups of milk (I prefer almond)
  • 1 cup old-fashioned oats
  • 1 tbsp brown sugar
  • 1 tsp ground cinnamon
  • 1 large very ripe banana, mashed
  • 1 tbsp pure maple syrup

Instructions

  • Heat milk in a saucepan until bubbles form along the edges.
  • Stir in oats, brown sugar and cinnamon.
  • Lower heat to medium and cook for 2 minutes, stirring occasionally.
  • Remove from heat.
  • Mash the banana and add to the oatmeal, along with the maple syrup.
  • Let sit until it’s your desired consistency.
  • Serve in bowls with toppings of your choice.

Notes

Topping options include:

  • sliced bananas
  • fresh berries
  • chocolate chips
  • walnuts
  • drizzled maple syrup
