Description

This incredibly delicious chocolate pecan fudge is topped with a coconut, pecan topping. It’s all of the flavors of German chocolate cake, in a bite-sized piece of fudge.

Ingredients

Scale

Topping

  • 1 cup granulated sugar
  • 1 cup evaporated milk
  • 1 stick butter, unsalted
  • 3 large egg yolks
  • 1.5 cups sweetened coconut flakes
  • 2 tsp vanilla extract
  • 1 cup pecans, chopped

Fudge

  • 1 cup German sweet chocolate
  • 2 cups semi-sweet chocolate chips
  • 14oz can sweetened condensed milk
  • a pinch of salt
  • 1.5 tsp vanilla extract
  • 1 cup pecans, chopped

Instructions

Topping

  • Combine sugar, milk, butter, and egg yolks in a saucepan and bring to a boil over medium heat, stirring frequently.
  • Remove from heat and add coconut, vanilla, and pecans.
  • Place in an airtight container and refrigerate while you make the fudge.

Fudge

  • Combine all chocolate, milk, and salt in a saucepan on low heat, stirring constantly until the chocolate has melted.
  • Remove from heat and stir in vanilla and pecans.
  • Place fudge in one even layer, in a baking dish lined with parchment paper. The parchment paper should hang over the edge of your baking dish by at least an inch.
  • Let fudge sit out for 30 minutes or so, or until cool to the touch.
  • Remove your topping from the refrigerator and place it on top of your fudge in one even layer.
  • Refrigerate for 2-3 hours.
  • Lift the fudge out of the baking dish by the parchment paper and cut it into squares.
