For almost 10 years, at least one of my children has begged me for a trampoline. It appeared on every Christmas list, every birthday wish list and came up in conversation just about anytime they went to their friend’s houses who had parents who loved them more and bought them a trampoline. We finally got one at the end of May and the girls are on it constantly. I have to say, while I was against it for so long, it’s actually one of the best decisions we’ve ever made.
Here was the moment our youngest two saw their new trampoline for the first time:
So now that we have one, we wish we would’ve gotten one sooner. If you’re thinking about getting a trampoline, here are 5 reasons that you should consider it.
#1: Hours of Peace and Quiet
I love my kids, I really do, but those girls can be so loud, especially when I need them to be quiet. Since both my husband and I work from home, there are often times throughout the day that we need silence and frankly, asking them to be quiet doesn’t seem to work. So when I have a client call or I need to concentrate, I just open up the back door and let them jump on their new trampoline. They can laugh and yell and have the time of their lives and it’s nice and quiet inside. It’s completely a win, win for us all!
#2: Exercise
A trampoline is the ultimate exercise! I remember getting on it when it first arrived, jumping for less than 5 minutes and my legs were burning! Jumping tones muscles, improves flexibility, develops balance, coordination and motor skills and for those of us that need it, helps with weight loss! Just 15 minutes a day makes such a difference. Plus, we added the basketball hoop, which gives them something extra to do while they are jumping. What I love most is that my kids are exercising and they don’t even realize it because they are having so much fun!
#3: Perfect for Campouts
Ok, not what you were thinking, right? But it’s actually genius. Our trampoline had the option of adding the outback tent and I knew we had to have it. My girls want to camp outdoors but they don’t want to sleep on the ground because… well… bugs (and snakes). So we put up the tent in the trampoline and they are now off of the ground, enclosed in a tent and safe from any of our local wildlife. They feel safer that way. The tent attaches to the trampoline itself and it’s big enough to fit all three girls, measuring at 11′ across and 5.5′ tall.
#4: Less Screen Time
We limit the girls screen time as much as we can. We take them out to bike ride, have a library of books for them to read and have plenty of arts and crafts and toys for them to play with indoors, but once their homework is done, they tend to go straight for their devices. Since we’ve had the trampoline, they’ve chosen to jump vs. watching videos or playing games. It makes me happy to know that they are making the right decision and choosing a physical, outdoor activity over screen time.
#5: Pure Happiness
If you want to see a genuinely happy child, get them on a trampoline. Shoot… same goes for the adults! The smiles and the giggles are off the charts. I can sit and watch them jump for hours. There’s no fighting or competition, it’s just my girls, jumping together and having fun. It’s something you can’t put a price tag on and totally worth every penny!
How Do I Choose a Trampoline?
While there are plenty of different trampolines available, we chose the AlleyOOP Trampoline from JumpSport. First and foremost, I was concerned about safety and I found that Jumpsport as a company is just as concerned. You can tell by the quality and how it’s put together, that they’ve thought of everything. I especially love that there is no zipper entrance. The overlapping doorway gives an added layer of security. Plus, there’s a warranty so if anything goes wrong, they can help!

I loved having a trampoline growing up! I kinda want to get one now that I’m older hahah
I swear every kids in the neighborhood had a trampoline and you can hear the laughter and screaming going on when they are out playing on them. Nice to hear and see the kids outside playing.
We have one and love it! My daughter jumps on it on a nearly daily basis. When it gets cooler out, she’ll be back on it more often. She likes to do all the flips.
When my kids get a little older we would like to get one. Right now, it would do more harm than good. Haha
I think kids will love a trampoline and getting exercise and getting off their phones is a great idea. I will think about a trampoline for next year when the weather warms up.
Trampolines are definitely a lot of fun. They give you a lot of exercise in the burn out energy for the kids. We do not have one but I have thought about getting one.
My kids loved their trampoline when they were growing up. Back in the day, they didn’t have the safety enclosure and thankfully, they have come a long way in the safety aspect. Now, my grandkids have a trampoline and they love it too. Plus, it’s great exercise.
