When we decided to take our family trip to Universal Orlando Resort, we wanted to make sure we stayed at a hotel that had the best amenities.  While there are a lot of great options, as soon as I saw the Universal’s Cabana Bay Beach Resort, I knew I had found the perfect place.

There were so many reasons that we absolutely loved the hotel, but for the sake of time, I wanted to share our 5 favorite things.

5. The Decor

They say first impressions are everything. When we walked into the lobby of Universal’s Cabana Bay Beach Resort, we were surprised to see a colorful lobby, decorated with the biggest and most beautiful Christmas trees we’ve ever seen. The decor instantly transports you back to the 50’s and 60’s (even for those of us that weren’t alive yet).  It’s fun, beach-y and super colorful. From the furniture to the cute little shampoos and soaps, they really thought of everything.

4. The Restaurants

If you are a parent, you know that taking three kids anywhere is a mission. It was so important to us to have the convenience of food in the hotel so that we didn’t have to go out to eat. While we did have a perfect sized fridge in our room to hold the little food and drinks we brought from home, we also had the convenience of 4 different restaurants, a Starbucks and a pizza delivery service!  We wound up at Bayliner Diner™ for most meals.  With different food stations offering selections such as deli items, pizzas, burgers, salads and desserts, you can create a seriously satisfying spread at this convenient food court. And because we were celebrating our birthdays, the hotel comped a free breakfast for me and a free dessert for Falynn.  Everything was delicious, freshly prepared and a perfect sized portion.  One thing we highly recommend is purchasing the refillable cups.  For $17 each, we had free refills through our entire 3 day stay, including coffee, hot chocolate, juice and soda!

3.  The Arcade

We’ve stayed in so many hotels that had a game room, but this one far exceeded our expectations. Take advantage of timeless arcade favorites before whirling your way into the world of modern video games at Game-O-Rama, located on the second floor of the hotel lobby building. We bought a $25 card which in most places, with three kids, would have lasted us 10-15 minutes.  At Universal’s Cabana Bay Beach Resort, we were able to stretch that out to almost 2 hours of games and fun!  Many of the games offered tickets which can then be cashed in for a huge assortment of prizes. The girls had so much fun “spending” their tickets and left the arcade with a bag full of goodies!

2. The Bowling Alley

Can there be anything better than a bowling alley right in your hotel?! Galaxy Bowl is the hotel’s very own bowling alley featuring ten lanes of ten-pin action on the second floor of the lobby building. We wound up at the bowling alley on day 2, after we got back from Universal Orlando Resort and the girls had a blast!  We haven’t been bowling in years and I’m all for activities that don’t include a phone in your hand, especially the kind that we can do as a family.  You are able to rent the lane for a certain amount of time and choose whether or not to dine while you bowl.  The food was really yummy and once we were done, we just got in the elevator and headed back to our comfy suite.

1. The Pool and Lazy River

At the top of the list was the pool and lazy river!  Not only was this our view but it was a part of the hotel that the girls would have hung out at the entire time, if we let them.  The Lazy River Courtyard is home to one of the two sparkling swimming pools that features a winding river, sand beach, the poolside Hideaway Bar & Grill, two fire pits and plenty of outdoor seating perfect for relaxing and soaking up the warm Florida sunshine.  The girls relaxed, had fun and even met some out of town friends.

If you are planning a trip to Universal Orlando Resort, we highly recommend staying at the Universal’s Cabana Bay Beach Resort. You will love it just as much as we did.
