Being forced to stay home for the next who knows how long, is not going to stop us from celebrating the seasons and the various holidays that keep my kids looking forward to traditions like homemade baked goods and fun little crafts. #ad This is a time of uncertainty throughout the world. As a self-employed family, we are having to make important decisions, to make sure that we are saving and spending our money wisely.⁣
⁣
After spending this past week looking at our bills, we realized that our mobile bill is way too high. We need to be able to stay connected, but we don’t need to spend a fortune to do it. We just switched Super Dad over to @mintmobile. ⁣

There are so many reasons to love Mint Mobile (and not just because Ryan Reynolds is the owner… yes, that Ryan Reynolds)! Mint Mobile lets you keep your number. It’s officially only been a few days since the schools in our state closed, due to the coronavirus global pandemic. Our family has decided to self quarantine. We aren’t going anywhere aside from the occasional quick trip to the grocery store (and by quick, I mean 2 hours because that’s how long it took for Super Dad to pick up the handful of things on my list). Don’t worry though, he put on his gardening gloves (yes, gardening gloves) and stays a safe distance from others.⁣

There are so many things I should be doing but I need structure. Otherwise, I fall off course and my house looks like a tornado went through it. Today starts the first week of “homeschool”. ⁣
⁣
Can I be totally honest? The idea of having to homeschool my kids terrifies me. Mostly because I don’t know if I can give them everything that they get at school. We rely so much on our teachers because they are AMAZING at what they do. We are going to try to make sure we make enough time in each day for every subject. I also want to make sure we incorporate some fun arts and crafts projects and outdoor time. ⁣

Looking for an easy and fun recipe for Spring and Easter treats? Check out these adorable chocolate chick egg nest treats! A recipe so simple, your kids will be able to help and a treat so delicious, they’ll beg you for more. These cute little nests are made from handmade rice cereal treats, shaped like a bird’s nest, shredded coconut and three colorful chocolate eggs. It’s an inexpensive and easy treat for the whole family. These are perfect for your next Easter party or just for an after school snack!

When it comes to holiday treats, I try to come up with options that are quick. When you have three very impatient kids in the house, you really don’t have any other option. These treats took about 15 minutes and that was only because I didn’t realize how sticky they really are. My advice, make sure you have wax or parchment paper on hand! Which reminds me…

Here Are The Supplies You’ll Need:

Ziplock bag
Muffin Tin
Cupcake Liners (optional)
Something Small and Round
Wax Paper
Sauce Pan
Silicone Spatula or Spoon
Tongs

Want to Create the Bunnies Too?

After we were done with the chocolate chick egg nest treats, we wanted to create a little bunny as well. What’s more Easter than bunnies and chicks? The bunny is super easy to do. Just take some shredded coconut that hasn’t been dyed and add the rabbit feet and tail. These cute little tail and feet candy pieces can be purchased at Target for under $5. They also come with white sprinkles that you can use instead of the coconut (or save them for your next baking project).

If you’re looking for a little more complicated option, you can also make cupcakes and top them with a little frosting, the green shredded coconut and chocolate candy eggs. I bet those would be just as much a hit as these chocolate chick egg nest treats are.

What special treats does your family make for Easter? Comment below! I’d love to hear. Maybe next year, we will try out your recipe!

Such a cute idea! Thanks for sharing! Your blog is so neat snd organized! We don’t have kids of our own but we had 2 foster kids for nine months, 10 years ago, and despite getting to go back with their mom, they have remained a huge part of our life! I am very grateful to their mom for that!! So, even though we might not have kids I am a second mom to them and I am an aunt who appreciates all this great fun advice and I get to live vicariously through all of my online friends!! ???!

Another fun treat was this cake I made (found idea on pinterest) where I surrounded it with little bunny peeps in alternating colors and used the spring m & m’s to help decorate it!
