Before I share our recipe for chocolate snack crack, it’s important for you to know that this recipe is completely customizable. So if you have different taste buds than my family, just swap out the snacks for your favorites!
A few weeks ago, I stumbled on Belle of the Kitchen’s recipe for Christmas Candy Cookie Bark. It instantly reminded me of something I made for the kids years ago that I had totally forgotten about. Turns out they had forgotten it too because when I told them I was going to take all of their favorite snacks and cover them in chocolate, they gave me the craziest look.
Once they tasted it, I didn’t seem as crazy anymore. It’s the ultimate salty-sweet snack!
I took my youngest to the store and told her to pick out her six favorite snacks. Some salty, and some sweet. She did a great job of heading straight to the salty chip aisle and choosing mini pretzels and potato sticks as her salty options.
Next was the cookie aisle. I had her select two of her favorite cookies. Naturally, she chose birthday cake OREO and mini chocolate chip cookies. She has great taste!
Finally, we went to the baking aisle, to pick up both milk chocolate chips and semi-sweet chocolate chips. While we were there, we noticed Heath bar baking bits which are tiny pieces of English toffee, one of my favorite flavors! We grabbed those for the 5th snack.
On the way to check out, we grabbed a family-sized bag of plain m&m’s to bring some color to our chocolate snack crack.
Again, this is customizable to your tastes, so make it into a fun trip to the grocery store and let your kids select what they want.
The first thing you’ll want to do is break up any of the larger snacks. For example, we quartered the OREO cookies and the chocolate chip cookies. It just makes things a little easier and allows you to spread each snack out.
You don’t have to use the entire package, so eyeball what you’ll need. This is also convenient if you have a bunch of leftover snacks from a party you’ve thrown or if you have kids like mine who like to open all of the bags of every snack before they’ve finished the others and you have to use them before they get stale.
Make sure that you’ve placed the snacks on an even single layer before you pour on the melted chocolate. If after you’ve mixed everything together, you find that you have large gaps, melt the other 4 oz of chocolate, pour it all over, and then bang the baking sheet against your counter or table, so it spreads out evenly.
You’ll want to top everything off with something bright and colorful as well as one of your salty options. I chose pretzels and m&m’s.
This chocolate snack crack makes a great movie night snack and is great packaged up as a gift! You can break the pieces as big or as small as you’d like, so there is always plenty to share!
You can switch up the melted chocolate(s) you use for a totally different flavor. Remember that semi-sweet or dark chocolate are going to be the least sweet options and milk and white chocolate will be the sweetest options.
Adding nuts is always a good salty option (unless you are sharing with someone who has a nut allergy), so be mindful of that! We were planning on sharing ours with our neighbor who has a nut allergy, so we left them out this time around.
The steps in the photos above, show exactly how I make these delicious chocolate snack crack.
Step 1: Gather all of your favorite salty and sweet snacks.
Step 2: Spread them out in one layer, on the bottom of a lined baking sheet.
Step 3: Top with melted chocolate.
Step 4: Mix everything together and spread out into one even layer.
Step 5: Top with leftover snacks and refrigerate until hardened. Crack into medium-large pieces and store until ready to eat!
Now that you know a little bit about this chocolate snack crack, I’m excited to share our recipe.

I know crack is whack, but in this case, I’ll make an exception! I think I would probably eat my weight in that.
