If you’ve used pinterest, you’ve probably seen a bunch of beautiful, pin-worthy images. And if you haven’t used pinterest, well, are you living under a rock?! It’s those pinnable images that tend to get shared the most, because honestly, they are easy on the eyes and help the pinterest surfer know exactly what they are about to read. If you’re looking to increase your engagement on Pinterest, I recommend spending a few minutes creating a sharable pinterest image for your next blog post. Here are my easy 5 steps to creating a shareable pinterest image.
Many people ask me how I create my pin-worthy images and so I’m sharing how I create them with you! Once you’ve made the first one, you’ll find that it’s smooth sailing on your next. The first one will always take the longest and may look a bit overwhelming, but I promise you, it’s super easy and you’ll probably see an increase in your engagement on Pinterest as a result.
Step 1: Download Bazaart
The app I use is called Bazaart. There are so many things you can do with this app. A lot of people know it as the app that cuts the background out of a product shot. That’s actually how I originally found it. Since then, I’ve found so many things you can do with it. It’s a must have for sure! It’s very user friendly.
Step 2: Creating a Sharable Pinterest Image
First, you’ll want 2 high resolution, horizontal images that represent your blog post. If you don’t take pictures yourself, you can try a stock image site like Adobe Stock or Fotolia. Please make sure you pay for these images. Pulling images from the internet without the photographer’s permission is a big no no! Have these 2 images saved in your camera roll. You’ll need them shortly.
Once you’ve downloaded the app, you’ll open it and click on “Start New”. You will notice there are templates at the bottom, which are awesome, but not needed for this particular project, so try not to get distracted just yet. Once we’re done, feel free to head back and have a peek! Next, click on the two little boxes on the bottom left hand side. This will allow you to choose the size of your image.
Step 3: Adding Your Content
Bazaart has conveniently included just about every size you need for social media. Just scroll through until you find “Pinterest Pin” and select it. Next, click on the plus symbol on the bottom center. We will now be adding your content to make this the perfect sharable image for pinterest.
Click on ‘Photos’ and choose your first image from your camera roll. You’ll be able to resize it with the arrows, until it fits the width of the screen.
Once the first image is placed at the top, repeat and add your 2nd image. This second image will be placed at the bottom of the screen. They may overlap and there may also be a space in between the two. Either is fine.
Step 4: Add the Text
Next, you’ll be adding the title of your pin or blog post. First, you’ll need a background. While you may be able to skip this step if there is a lot of white space in your image, it will make things easier to read. Click on the plus sign and then on “Stickers”. Scroll until you see “Shapes” and click on it.
Toward the bottom, you’ll see the shape we need. Choose any color (this color can be changed later). Drag the arrows until your shape fits the entire width of your screen. You can adjust your two images if the shape is blocking anything, by touching the image with your finger and then dragging it to where you need to go.
Once you have your images where you want them, you can change the color of the shape by touching it with your finger and selecting “Style” at the bottom. Select fill and choose the color from their large assortment of colors.
And now it’s time to add your text! This is where your creativity comes in. You want your title to be catchy. I usually use the title of my blog post. If it’s a sponsored post, I may add the name of the company in there as well. This is all up to you! You can use one font or different fonts. Play with it until you find the look you are going for!
You can change the font by clicking on the Aa button and change the color right next to it. Bazaart has lots of font options from classic to cursive. You can definitely make it your own! If you need to add more than one line, just click on the + again and add more text!
Change your mind or want to see something new? Just click on the text and select “edit text”. It’s that easy.
Step 5: Save
Once you have everything how and where you want it, it’s time to save it to your camera roll. Just click on the save icon in the upper right hand corner.
You can choose from “save image” or “save HD image”. It’s totally up to you. If you open up your camera roll, you’ll find your perfect sharable pinterest image is ready to go. And next time, just open Bazaart, go back to this project, click on the images and delete them, add your 2 new images and reposition them. Then, change the text that’s already there (you can also change the color of the shape and/or font if you’d like to) and voila, a new sharable pinterest image!
I hope this helps you in creating a sharable pinterest image. And once you are comfortable with the basics, play around with it and make it your own! Happy pinning! Have any questions? Comment below!
