Easter Candy Hugs with Cricut

I’m super excited! I just got a Cricut Maker, and after using it just a couple of times, I can tell you that it’s the greatest thing ever.

You probably know that I love my Cricut Joy, but it does have some limitations. It’s a much smaller machine which means you can’t make larger size designs. I had my eye on the Maker for a while now, and it did not disappoint!

Last weekend, I wanted to make something cute for the girls for Easter and found this adorable project on Cricut Design Space. It’s called Easter Candy Hugs. They were incredibly easy and fun to make, and I love how they turned out!

Supplies Needed for Easter Candy Hugs

All you’ll need for this cute little project is:

• Pastel Cardstock Paper
• Cricut (compatible with all machines)
• LightGrip Machine Mat
• Multi-Pen Set, Black
• Spatula or Weeder
• Glue dots or some sort of adhesive
• Creme Eggs, Kinder Eggs, or similarly shaped candy

It’s incredibly easy to put these Easter candy hugs together! 

• If you don’t already have Cricut Design Space on your computer, download that. 
• Go to “Projects” and search for “hugs”. It should pop right up!
• If you want to change the project, you can customize it; otherwise, click “Make it.”
• Choose your first color of cardstock and place it in the upper left-hand corner of your LightGrip mat.
• Insert your mat into the machine and follow the prompts to insert your Cricut pen or marker into your machine and cut out the images.
• Once it’s finished and you unload the mat and paper from the machine, peel away the excess cardstock.
• Using a tool like a spatula or a weeder, carefully lift a corner of the animal up and peel it off your LightGrip mat. 
• Set that animal aside and repeat steps as many times as you want until you have all of the animals drawn and cut out.

• When you have all of the animals drawn and cut out, you’ll notice that some of the arms are much longer than the others. Some may require adhesive on both hands, and others may need it only on one side.
• For the longer arms (the duck and the chick), place a small piece of adhesive (or glue dot) on one of their hands. Place a creme egg on top of the animal and wrap the arms around it (the non-adhesive side first and then seal with the adhesive side). Make sure it’s nice and tight so that the creme egg doesn’t fall out.
• For the shorter arms (bunny and lamb), place a small piece of adhesive on both of their hands. Then follow the instructions above. 

These adorable Easter candy hugs are approximately 5″ x 3″ and 4″ x 4″ when cut. They are perfect for adding to Easter baskets or to hand out to your favorite people.

If you don’t celebrate Easter, these are also perfect for spring and work well with Kinder Eggs! The best part of this project is that the cleanup is minimal!
