I remember seeing the infamous everything bagel seasoning on social media a few years ago. Of course, I was influenced to go to Trader Joe’s and pick some up.
I grew up in our family deli and everything bagels were so popular. They have a ton of flavor and aside being sticky to the touch, they are delicious. So I was excited to give this seasoning a try.
After eating the same, boring eggs every day, I sprinkled some everything bagel seasoning on my eggs and cooked them how I normally did. One bite and I was unimpressed. I couldn’t understand what they hype was all about. It didn’t have the flavor I imagined it would. I set it back on my shelf and forgot about it.
But the social media posts kept coming. People couldn’t get enough of this seasoning. And I couldn’t understand why I didn’t love it as much as everyone else. One day, I decided to sprinkle it on my eggs after they were already cooked and BAM! It was love at first taste.
What is everything bagel seasoning made of?
This popular seasoning is made up of a mix of black sesame seeds and white sesame seeds, poppy seeds, dried minced garlic, dried minced onion and sea salt flakes.
Why is it called everything bagel seasoning?
That’s easy! If you’ve ever had an everything bagel, it’s the seasoning that goes on top of those bagels.
Where can I buy everything bagel seasoning?
You can buy it at Trader Joe’s. They also sell it at Target and a variety of grocery stores. They also sell a variety of brands on Amazon. The good news is, if you prefer to use this recipe, you can make your own with spices you probably already have in your pantry!
What can you use everything bagel seasoning on?
I use it on almost everything, but so far my favorites have been eggs, popcorn, potatoes, salad and any type of meat. The key is to sprinkle it on after you’ve prepared your dish, not before. This everything bagel seasoning would be amazing on our air fryer pasta chips as well!
Can I use garlic powder instead of dried minced garlic?
No. The dried minced garlic is actually one of the most flavorful components of everything bagel seasoning. I was unable to find it in our local grocery stores, so I bought a package from amazon.
Can I use coarse sea salt instead of sea salt flakes?
I’ve found that the flakes are best, but if you are unable to find sea salt flakes, I don’t see why you can’t use coarse salt. I was able to find kosher sea salt flakes on Amazon.
Do I have to use both white and black sesame seeds?
You don’t have to, but I think it adds to the flavor. Black and white sesame seeds have a different flavor. Black sesame seeds tend to be a little bit bitter, while white sesame seeds have a sweeter, nuttier flavor.
Is everything bagel seasoning healthy?
We eat very cleanly and are allowed as much seasoning as we’d like. Of course, this does have salt flakes in it, so you don’t want to go overboard. I do recommend if you are watching your salt intake, to leave it out of the mix and add a pinch separately each time you use it. The sesame seeds may also add calories.
Now that you know a little bit about our everything bagel seasoning, I’m excited to share our recipe.

I have never heard of it, so obviously never tried it! But the seasoning looks so good and is easy to make too 👌🏻
this looks so yummy and healthy..
I really love everything bagel (well at least the seasoning) BUT I cannot eat them as many are made with an ingredient that I am allergic to. This is perfect as I can be in control of exactly what I am getting.
I hope i can make better seasoning next time, last time i did it, it’s too salty. Thanks for sharing
