The holidays are usually a blur for me. Between decorating, cooking and prepping the house, its non-stop. It’s hard not to feel overwhelmed when you add in our everyday chores as parents.
I think it’s important to keep the kids occupied with something that you can use, instead of sitting them in front of a screen. Plus, it’s great to encourage your little one’s creativity.
We love to choose a few projects every year and have the girls create our holiday décor. They love that we proudly display their projects and they make a great gift for your guests or their school friends!
This year, we are excited to share our first Christmas craft idea, the snowman jar!
What You’ll Need
- Jar
- Yogurt or white chocolate covered pretzels (or any other white snack or candy)
- 3 black buttons
- Red ribbon, yarn, or string
- Glue dots or hot glue
- Scissors
How to Create Your Snowman Jar
- Fill your jar with your snack or candy and close the top.
- Glue each button in a vertical line in the front of the jar.
- Tie the ribbon, yarn, or string around the top. I chose to braid three pieces of yarn to make it look more like a scarf.
If you want to get fancy, hot glue a tiny top hat to the top of the jar. Want to get even fancier? Using a white marker, add the recipient’s name on the hat. They can then serve as a place card at your holiday table.
I love this snowman jar craft because it’s really easy for the kids to create and fairly inexpensive. One snowman jar should cost somewhere around $1-$2, depending on the cost of the jars. I got mine at a local craft store for $1 each, but if you buy them in bulk, they can be even more inexpensive.
We’d love to hear what you think of this snowman jar. Don’t forget to subscribe to our newsletter for more fun craft ideas, including our reindeer hot cocoa jar!

What a creative way to DIY something for Xmas. I love the two buttons in front of the glass bottle so cute and I think it is the highlight.
wow! How cute are these snowman jars! My kid will have a lot of fun making them!
What a lovely idea to help bring out the creativity in our child. It’s so very important to have interesting alternatives to keep our children engaged and move them away from the idiot screen.
I love these! We host a part every Christmas Eve and these would be a fun party favor to pass out to our guests!
These are such cute jars. I really love how they turned out. These would make for some great gifts for others too.
Very easy and festive. Such a cool craft for the Holidays.
Love this!! What a super cute idea for holiday gifts all around. Thanks for the inspiration!
