Finally a Fun App that Helps Us Make Better Food Choices

When it comes to my diet, I have no issues eating healthy, good for you dishes. My issues are a little more complex. First, I have a huge problem with choosing the right meal when we are at a restaurant. I think I’m choosing something healthy, when in fact, it’s packed with the very things I’m trying to avoid… I just wasn’t aware. My other problem, is finding new dishes that I can make at home. We seem to be stuck in a pattern, where we find one really great, healthy option and then repeat it so often that we get tired of it and resort back to the dishes that we know aren’t good for us. Just last month, I was telling Super Dad that we needed help! And like a wish that was instantly granted, we discovered HowUdish!

HowUdish is a one-of-a-kind mobile “dish discovery” app and social network that connects users to dishes based on their own nutritional lifestyle. When you sign up for the app, you select what type of dietary restrictions you want. So, in my case, vegetarian, high fiber and low-carb. Another part of the app I really love is Pro Dish Styles, which helps you find meals that fit within your favorite athletes diet. These Pro Dish Styles athletes all follow very specialized nutritional meal plans. So here’s your opportunity to eat like them, to achieve your goals! Whether you are looking to avoid red meat, sugar, carbs or inflammatory foods, HowUdish is confident that you will find that their athletes have a personalized meal plan that works for you and that you can easily draw inspiration from.

 

And they don’t stop there. You can also build a network of friends who share their favorite restaurants that match your nutritional lifestyles. One of our favorite new recipes that we found on HowUdish is this peanut butter sandwich from The Lemon Bowl. It’s so easy! Just slice up an apple, 1/4 inch slices, core it, top one side with peanut butter, place another slice on top and squeeze just enough for the peanut butter to ooze out of the sides just a bit. Then roll each sandwich in unsweetened shredded coconut. My kids are over the moon for this and have asked me to make it for them as an after school snack, every day this week. It’s a much healthier version of a kid friendly favorite!

    I had never actually heard of this app before! Haha, it’s like the Tinder of healthy eating! I’ve used MyFitnessPal, but I’m honestly always looking for useful tools to help improve my diet or to recommend to my personal training clients to help support their nutrional goals!

    I think this is a great app to have. I watch my diet not to lose weight but to keep my blood sugar levels in check. I love that this app would provide me choices for low glycemic index food. My husband would also benefit from this as he is trying to gain back the weight he lost post-surgery. He is supposed to have high protein meals to regain muscle mass. I am totally checking out this app.

    This app sounds like a fantastic resource! I totally understand that rut. We have a few dishes we eat almost each week since I know how to quickly make them and that they are mostly healthy.
