I went to private school for most of my childhood, so when I transferred to public school in eighth grade, I had no idea that people wore green on St. Patrick’s Day. I remember that first year in public school, getting pinched all day and making a conscious memory never to forget my green on St. Paddy’s Day. Those red marks and cringy memories played a part in creating this adorable printable that reads, “I’ll always be there for you in a pinch.”
I never bothered to find out why people wore green on St. Patrick’s Day until I was an adult. It’s rumored that Americans started the get-pinched rule as Ireland doesn’t go as full-force with leprechaun stuff. As the tradition goes, wearing green on Saint Patrick’s Day is supposed to make you invisible to leprechauns. If you don’t wear green, leprechauns will pinch you when you come upon their radar.
Regardless of where this tradition started, I’ve worn green ever since.
I’ll always be there for you in a pinch st. patrick’s day printable cards
Before I share the printable, let me share a little about what we used for ours.
While these in a pinch St. Patrick’s Day printable cards are cute enough to hand out all on their own, they make a great gift tag. Since I couldn’t be the only one who forgot to wear green to school, why not tie it to a cute little green bracelet to save your child’s friends from getting pinched?
I found the cutest assortment of St. Patrick’s Day bracelets on Amazon. They come in a pack of 36 (4 different designs). They are around $.31 a piece, which is budget-friendly, especially when you have a large group to buy for.
Once you cut out the cards, punch a hole in the top corner and tie it to the bracelet with a ribbon.
If you’re looking for other gift options, pair this in a pinch printable card with a small bag of treats, candy, or a fidget toy.
that leprechaun though
You might recognize the leprechaun from our paper bag craft. My oldest daughter turned her paper bag creation into an adorable digital leprechaun. I love him so much that I’m trying to figure out what other printables I can create with him as the star.
Coloring sheets, maybe?
How to Download:
- Download our in a pinch printable, open it in Adobe Acrobat, and print on cardstock paper (you can also use regular printer paper if that’s all you have available). Make sure to select landscape and “fit to page” before printing.
- Cut each card using a paper cutter or scissors (10 on each page).
- Write your child’s name at the bottom of the card.
The best part about these in a pinch St. Patrick’s Day printable cards is that it’s a digital file so you can save it to your computer and print as many as you need. I always recommend saving it somewhere that you will remember, in case you want to use them next year.
