It’s no secret that we are focusing on changing our lifestyle. We are eating better, trying to exercising more and making our health a top priority. Not just my husband and I, but our kids as well. I’m hoping that if we start this change in lifestyle now, they will carry it with them as they grow up. I want to make sure that we focused on our kids fitness level, making it fun and exciting for them.
My girls have been dancers for years so when they suddenly stopped dancing last year, we found that they would come home from school and spend 90% of their time either watching television or on their phones or tablets. I knew we needed to change their lifestyle quickly while introducing something that will be just as fun and something they wouldn’t get tired of quickly.
And almost like our prayers had been answered, I was contacted by Garmin who wanted the girls to try their vívofit jr. 2 . It’s exactly what they needed!
Love at First Sight.
The girls chose their favorite design and when they arrived, they couldn’t rip the package open fast enough. They didn’t even give me a chance to connect them to the app before they were running around the house and trying to get the highest number of steps. It was like an instant competition.
It was the first time, in a long time, that I actually couldn’t get them to sit down. They instantly wanted to go outside. They wanted to walk around the neighborhood. They wanted to exercise. And every few minutes, they would compare numbers. It was mind blowing.
We got them set up on the app fairly quickly. It was an extremely easy process! Parents are able to use the free mobile app to manage their vívofit jr. 2 activity tracker(s). From the app, I was able to add profiles for all three girls to keep track of their steps, sleep, daily activities and set chores. Once they complete their goals, or tasks, they are rewarded with in-app coins which the girls can redeem for rewards at a later date.
While I love that they are using their new vívofit jr. 2 to get fit, I also love that we can assign chores and schedule alerts from the app. These can be set up to recur weekly or even daily — perfect for children who need reminders. If your kids are anything like mine, then you will love the alerts you can set, to remind them to finish their homework, brush their teeth and more. It’s all in this one really cool looking band!
Now that the girls have had their vívofit jr. 2 for a few weeks I can tell you that they have not gotten tired of them yet! And when you are a 5, 8 or 12 year old girl, that’s some sort of miracle… at least in my house. They are still competing daily, jumping off of the bus from school to compare numbers. They run in to tell me when they have achieved a new goal and how long they have until they achieve the next. Iyla wears hers everywhere, including to sleep and even in the bath (they are totally swim-friendly).
If you have kids in your household that love competition, love rewards or just love a challenge, you need to check out the vívofit jr. 2. They are really reasonably priced and the perfect tool for a more healthy lifestyle!

Such a great way to get kids excited about being active! My mom has a Garmin device and she loves it. It keeps her moving on those tough days.
How cute are those kid fitness trackers? Such a great idea.
Those really are some cool looking bands. What a fun way to get kids started on a fitness routine that could last a lifetime.
Fitness can be fun and for me it has to be. I love playing tennis and other sports to work out rather than running. It’s so much fun!
Garmin makes a kid version? Awesome! My son will be getting one to encourage him to stay active.
Those are super cute devices for kids! My kids need some motivation when it comes to getting active. It is so easy for them to come home and spend hours laying around the house.
