With so many subscription box options out there, how do you know which one to invest in? Well, for us, we look for something that is both fun and educational. If my kids are going to be getting a monthly package, I want them to be learning something, instead of just building up the pile of “things” that they accumulate throughout their childhood. I was on Instagram one day (shocker) and I came across a post advertising Bitsbox, a monthly subscription that teaches your kids how to code. I had been looking for something for my older girls and was sure this was something that they would LOVE!
In today’s world, computers are EVERYTHING and teaching them at this young age is so important. I quickly visited Bitsbox.com to learn all about this awesome box. I loved what I read… “Learning to program is just like learning any language. The earlier you start, the easier it is. Kids can use Bitsbox as soon as they can read and write… If you want your kid to learn guitar, you don’t start with Rock Band. You start with a smaller guitar… Bitsbox uses simple commands to create cool apps that really work. Most people learn hard things by imitation and repetition. With Bitsbox, kids learn to program by copying apps and making them their own.”
When the girls Bitsbox arrived, they couldn’t wait to open it up and start learning! I loved that it was something that my 11 year old and 8 year old could do together since there are very few things that they have in common these days. They took turns reading, learning, experimenting and CODING! I couldn’t believe how quickly they picked it all up. It was mind blowing.
The more cards they went through, the more they wanted to try to create their own things. They started finding shortcuts and new ways to create their own apps. They were going through everything so quickly, I was concerned that they would finish it and be done with it, but I found them, days later, still wanting to jump on the computer and learn more.
In addition to the cute little binder and coding cards, their box included trading cards, stickers and tattoos. Fun and education all rolled into one. It’s literally the perfect subscription box! It’s been a little over a week since they first cracked open their box and they are still on a mission to learn more. The great part about Bitsbox is that each month, their projects build as your children learn, so the more advanced they become, the more advanced the content of their box becomes. My girls are already asking when their next box will arrive.
If you’re looking for something fun and educational, then I encourage you to check out Bitsbox. Subscriptions cost as little as $20/month. You can use code FASHIONISTA for 20% off your first box! Isn’t a world of knowledge worth such a small price?!
Check out our little video that we put together, with the girls’ opinion on Bitsbox:
