If there’s one thing I love most about school days, it’s finding little ways of bringing a smile to my kids’ faces. On days they pack their lunches, I love to leave little notes in their lunchboxes. This year, I thought it would be fun to create some cute stickers to add to the notes. Of course, I had to create a free printable so you can print these lunchbox stickers too!

These stickers are so much more than just a sheet of stickers. They were designed, hand-drawn, and created by our family and we are so proud of how they turned out.

Which Cricut do I need for this print and cut project?

You should be able to use any Cricut machine that you have. I used my new Cricut Maker 3 for this tutorial.

Does Cricut sell sticker paper that I can use for this?

Yes, they do sell sticker cardstock, but there are a couple of issues that I (and many online) have run into with that particular sticker cardstock. It’s much bigger than letter size (another issue with standard printers). You can cut it down to letter size using scissors (it’s too big for most paper cutters). Unfortunately, even once it’s the right size, It’s too thick to use in a regular printer and gets jammed easily. Buying full page label sheets, that are made for your inkjet or laser printer is your best bet.

Do I need to have Cricut Design Space on my computer?

Yes! But don’t worry, it’s free and easy to download.

What supplies do I need for these lunchbox stickers?

All you’ll need to print and cut these lunchbox stickers are:

steps to make printable lunchbox stickers

It’s incredibly easy to print and cut these lunchbox stickers!

  • Download the free printable lunchbox stickers sheet. Make sure to save it in a folder you’ll be able to easily access.
  • If you don’t already have Cricut Design Space on your computer, download it and open it.
  • Click “new project”.
  • Click “upload” and then “upload image”.
  • Click browse and find and select the lunchbox stickers file you just downloaded.
  • You should now be on the screen that shows in step 1 above. Select “complex” and click continue on the bottom of the screen.
  • Now you are going to select the white part of the file and then “continue” on the bottom right. It should look the same as step 2 above. This is what tells Cricut what it needs to cut for you.
  • Select “print then cut image” and “upload” on the bottom right (as shown in step 3 above).
  • Now, select the file you just uploaded (it will be just below the words recent uploads) and select “insert images.”
  • You should be back in design space and the lunchbox stickers file should be in your project area.
  • Since the file is too big, you’re going to resize it (as shown in step 4 above). Click on the dropdown arrow next to more and change the width to 6.75″. You can hit return or tab and it should automatically resize the height for you.
  • Now you are ready to print. Click “make it” in the upper right-hand corner.
  • You shouldn’t need to change anything on the next screen unless you want to print multiple copies at the same time. If you want to test the first one out, just leave everything as is and click continue.

  • Now you should be on the same screen as shown in step 5 above. Make sure that you’ve connected your Cricut machine and that it’s powered on and nearby so it can find it through Bluetooth. Click “send to printer.”
  • Step 6 above shows what screen you should be on now. Select the printer you want to print to and make sure to select “add bleed”. Once printed, the stickers will look like they have a blurry border around them, but that is just to give a little more space to the Cricut, just in case it doesn’t cut exactly as it should. Make sure to put your label sheet into the paper feeder in your printer and then press “print”.
  • Once your label sheet is printed, you’ll want to place it on your Cricut LightGrip Machine Mat. Make sure it’s smooth and placed in the upper left-hand corner of the mat.
  • Now you’re ready to cut the stickers! You’ll want to search materials for Washi Sheet (as shown in step 7 above). I’ve found this is the best option for cutting only the sticky part of a sheet of labels without it cutting all the way through the whole sheet.
  • Double-check that you have the tools you need (it will show this on your design space screen – as shown in step 8 above). If everything looks good, load the mat into your Cricut and click on the load/unload button (arrows). Once it’s calibrated, click on the flashing triangle and it’s ready to cut!
  • You’ll need to click on the load/unload button to release the mat.
  • To remove the sheet from the mat, turn the mat upside down so that you are looking at the back of the mat. Then roll the mat slowly away from the sticker sheet until they are separated. If you peel the sheet from the mat, it will make the sticker sheet corners roll-up.
  • Now you’re ready to use the stickers! If you run out, you can always print more!
