If you’re planning a family trip to Orlando and need more space than a typical hotel room, Margaritaville Resort Cottages may just be the tropical oasis you’ve been searching for. Our family recently stayed in one of the 6-Bedroom Elite Margaritaville Resort Cottages and had an unforgettable experience full of sunshine and laughter.

Located in Kissimmee, Florida—just a short drive from the Walt Disney World Resort—Margaritaville Resort Orlando offers a unique mix of hotel-style amenities and vacation home comfort. The resort features a hotel with traditional guest rooms, but also a large section of colorful cottages ranging from 1 to 8 bedrooms.
These homes are individually owned but managed by the resort, so guests get access to full resort perks—including H2O Live! Water Park admission, the beautiful main pool, restaurants, a fitness center, and even a shuttle to Disney Parks.
We stayed in one of their 6-Bedroom Elite Cottages, which includes its own private pool, plenty of living space, and enough beds and bathrooms to easily accommodate a large family or group.
Why We Loved the Margaritaville Resort Cottages
1. So Much Space!
The biggest win for us was the space. With six bedrooms, multiple bathrooms, a full kitchen, and both indoor and outdoor gathering areas, no one felt crowded. The house was beautifully decorated with Margaritaville’s signature beachy vibe—bright, clean, and relaxing.
If you’re traveling with grandparents, multiple families, or a group of friends, the layout makes it easy to enjoy time together while still having your own room to retreat to.
2. Impeccably Clean
Our Margaritaville Resort Cottage was spotless, spacious, and beautiful. Every room was clean, the linens felt fresh, and the pool area looked like it had just been prepped for guests. Cleanliness is always one of our top priorities when traveling—and Margaritaville Resorts nailed it.
3. Warm and Welcoming Check-In Experience
From the moment we arrived, we felt taken care of. Jasmine at the front desk was incredibly welcoming and knowledgeable—she answered all of our questions, gave us great info about the property, and set the tone for a great stay. As a bonus, the resort offers complimentary welcome drinks at check-in—complete with a kid-friendly version so everyone can join in the toast to vacation.
4. Margaritaville Resort Cottages are Perfect for Families & Groups
The Margaritaville Resort Cottages provide the perfect blend of privacy and resort-style perks, ideal for families or large groups. There was plenty of seating in the living room, a large dining table for meals, and a kitchen that made cooking in feel easy. Having our own pool meant we didn’t have to worry about getting chairs at the main resort pool or hauling kids back and forth. The private outdoor space was a game changer.
5. Amazing Location with Nearby Essentials
Just minutes from Walt Disney World, Margaritaville Resort Orlando is in a great location for theme park lovers. Even better, you’re within walking or short driving distance to restaurants, souvenir shops, a Publix grocery store, and a Target. It’s super convenient for picking up snacks, forgotten essentials, or even grabbing a quick bite after a long day at the parks.
A Few Things to Know Before You Go
While our stay was overwhelmingly positive, there were a few drawbacks worth mentioning:
1. Maintenance Response Times Are Slow
Our refrigerator wasn’t cold when we arrived and it took over 12 hours for someone to come take a look. That’s not ideal when you’re trying to keep groceries fresh or store kids’ snacks and drinks. We were also told an iron would be brought to our cottage in 15 minutes—but it never arrived. When we discovered that our pool table was missing the cue ball, we were told that is the owner’s responsibility and unfortunately, they couldn’t help us with that.
2. Kitchens Are Understocked
The kitchen has the basics—pots, pans, dishes, and a margarita blender (of course!)—but no salt, pepper, oil, or other cooking essentials. Be sure to bring or buy your own if you plan to cook. The margarita machine is fun, but just a heads up: no margarita mix is provided. A quick grocery run will be necessary if you plan to mix up some frozen fun.
3. The Shuttle to Disney Takes Time
While the resort offers a free shuttle to Disney, it’s important to note that it makes multiple stops and could take up to an hour to get where you’re going. If you’re on a tight schedule or traveling with little ones, you might prefer driving yourself or using a rideshare.
Bonus: Free Water Park Admission!
One of our favorite perks of staying at the Margaritaville Cottages is that you get free daily admission to Island H2O Live!, the resort’s on-site water park. It’s a great bonus for families with kids and teens. The park has a lazy river, wave pool, cabanas, and thrilling slides. We suggest taking the free shuttle over so that you don’t have to pay for parking.
Should You Stay at Margaritaville Resort Cottages?
Despite the slow maintenance and a few missing kitchen basics, we absolutely recommend Margaritaville Resort Cottages for large families or groups. The amount of space, the private pool, the location, and access to resort amenities make this one of the most fun and relaxing vacation rental options in Orlando.
If you’re looking for a kid-friendly, group-friendly, and Disney-adjacent place to stay, it’s hard to beat Margaritaville’s charm. Just be sure to pack your own condiments and maybe bring a backup iron—just in case. 😉 We also highly recommend Bear’s Den Resort.

Would we stay again at one of the Margaritaville Resort Cottages? Absolutely. The tropical vibes, spacious layout, and resort perks made it a memorable and relaxing getaway. It’s a fantastic option for any family or group visiting Disney or just wanting to enjoy Florida sunshine with extra room to spread out.
