Last Thursday, we packed up the car and headed out for an Orlando staycation at the Wyndham Orlando Resort International Drive. It had been a while since we visited a hotel in Orlando with no plans to visit a theme park and believe it or not, it was what I was looking forward to the most. No itinerary, no hectic long days… just two days together, enjoying some much needed quality family time.
While we had been to International Drive plenty of times, we never stayed at Wyndham Orlando Resort International Drive. When we pulled up, I was more than pleasantly surprised. The grounds are neat and beautiful and remind me why we love Florida so much. There are huge palm trees and beautiful, bright flowers and the decor is very clean and modern. They offer everything you need for the perfect Orlando staycation!
I found it very refreshing that the Wyndham Orlando Resort International Drive is more like the old school motels I used to stay at with my family when I was a kid. No elevators and no long hallways. Instead, you enter your room from the outside. But there’s nothing old school about the rooms. Our room featured a king sized bed, wood floors and bright, modern furniture.
Thanks to their recent multi-million-dollar renovation, all of the resort’s rooms feature all of the latest upscale touches, including pillow-top mattresses, massaging showers, mini-fridges, 40-inch flat-screen TVs and high speed wifi access.
Our family suite even had a separate space with a bunk bed for my girls which they were crazy about. They had their own tv (with parental controls) and even though there was no door separating us and them, it still had a very private feel to it.
Within the first hour, we had to make a couple of calls to guest services and we were greeted by the sweetest representative who made sure we had everything we needed promptly and even called back to make sure we weren’t in need of anything else. Good customer service is everything at a hotel, wouldn’t you agree?
Our room happened to be right next door to their newly renovated indoor fitness center. My 8 year old couldn’t wait to get inside and exercise (clearly she doesn’t get that from her Mama). While I’m not the biggest fan of exercising while on vacation, the facilities were so clean and offered every type of machine I could think of.
The biggest hit for my kids were the two outdoor pools. I’m pretty sure they were fish in their past lives. They would stay in the water all day if we allowed it. You are able to choose from the main pool or the “quiet pool” which is slightly smaller and next to the heated spa. On the 2nd night, the girls just didn’t want to leave the pool so we made the decision to dine at the poolside restaurant, the Gatorville Poolside Bar and Grill. Our food was so good and our server was awesome! I highly recommend the shrimp tacos!
While we could have had the best time without even leaving the resort, we took advantage of the local attractions. Wyndham Orlando Resort International Drive Drive is the official hotel of I-Drive 360, putting you right in the heart of exciting new attractions, outstanding dining, and world-class shopping. The Coca-Cola Orlando Eye, offering breathtaking, 360-degree views of Central Florida, is just a short walk away. Stay tuned for our next post about our memorable experience on the Orlando Eye. And if you are heading to a theme park, the resort offers a complimentary shuttle to Universal Studios, Islands of Adventure and SeaWorld Orlando theme parks.
The only complaint we have is that it flew by way too quickly. We would have loved spending more time together at the Wyndham Orlando Resort International Drive. I know we will be back very soon!
If you are headed to Orlando, now is the time to book your stay. You will love it as much as we did!

How fun! We’ve never been to Orlando so we haven’t stayed at a Wyndham hotel there. But we have stayed at a Wyndham hotel in Atlanta.
This looks like a great stay for the family. We were just in Orlando in January (that week it was freezing!) and I’d love to go back soon. There is so much to do and see there.
Looks like a great place to stay. I’ll definitely stay here one day with my family. Will be saving this! Next trip to Orlando.
That looks like a very nice place to stay. I would love to have a staycation there. I know my family would love it.
What a nice place and I have never seen bunk beds in a hotel before! How nice more like home in some ways! It looks super clean and cozy too!
I have stayed at Wyndham hotels many times and I really like their attention to detail. I’ll have to check this one out the next time I head to Orlando.
What an amazing sounding staycation you had. International Drive is just such a hub of things to do and the resort you opted for looks really lovely as well.
