It was the 8th grade. I was 13. My hair was a hot, frizzy mess, I could not get my bangs to do that fun fan thing that was so popular at that time, my face was always accessorized with a pimple or two, everyone was in a relationship except me and I was becoming a woman in the most awkward and uncomfortable way possible.

As my daughters grow up, I can’t help but want to snap my fingers and make their middle school experience easy and magical.  Unfortunately, I’m no magician. So while I can help with the hair and pimple issues that are bound to occur, I can’t take away that uncomfortable feeling we all have one week out of every month. I’m not talking about the cramps and bloating (though those are awful), I’m talking about the giant pads we use to prevent possible leaks. I thought of them as my safety net.

Like most things, our girls have it so much easier these days. Because now, instead of giant pads, they have better, safer, less bulky options, like Knixteen. Which is awesome because middle schoolers in our county are forced to walk around with a see-through backpack and how many places can you hide a pad when people can see what you’re carrying around?

Knixteen is a brand built for teens, with products designed to make growing up easier. They are the creators of the perfect leak-proof period underwear and comfy training bras. Why weren’t they around in our teenage years? It would have made that awkward time so much less awkward.

What’s great about Knixteen period panties is that they look and feel like regular undies (prettier, actually). The difference is, they are absorbent, sweat-wicking, odor-crushing and seamless. Basically, they are magic for your period and you don’t have to be a magician to own them! Forget putting on your ugliest, biggest undies when Aunt Flo arrives (do they still call it that?). Why shouldn’t we feel comfortable and pretty all month?

Growing up is hard enough, and I don’t want my daughters worrying about their period ruining their pants. Plus, Knixteen is good for the environment and your wallet. No more buying disposable, non-flushable products that serve as a constant reminder that it’s that time of the month (though they can be used as a backup, if you need them). No chemical concerns or forcing them to learn to use tampons before they’re ready. I know I wasn’t ready until I was in my 20’s. And if I’m being honest, I’m still not a fan.

Knixteen offers a variety of shapes and sizes, including ‘Oh-No’ Proof Bikini, ‘Oh-No’  Proof Boyshort and Sleepover Short. The sleepover shorts are my daughter’s fave. There’s nothing worse then waking up in a panic because you’re afraid you’ll mess up your sheets, or worse, your mattress! They are comfy, soft and give her the peace of mind she needs.

And it’s not just undies they offer… One of my favorite parts of the Knixteen website is their Period Talk page, a great resource for your girls to have their questions answered.

Questions like

“Why is this happening to me?”

“Why does it feel like ninjas are attacking my stomach?”

“How do I break the news to my Mom and Dad?”.

I have to mention the little reusable pouch they send you with your order is everything. It can be used for a variety of things, including a DIY heating pad for when your cramps get bad! Just run a small towel or washcloth under hot water, insert it into the Knixteen pouch and you’ve got a heating pad! They’ve really thought of everything.

As a Mom, I appreciate companies helping our girls to feel more comfortable about this uncomfortable time in their lives. While my girls ask me lots of questions, there are times when they might feel a little more comfortable reading those answers from a reputable company that knows what they’re going through.

Are period panties a good option for your daughter? We definitely recommend giving Knixteen a try. She may just have the magical school experience that we didn’t! Use code SUPERMOMLIFE15 for 15% off ONLY underwear; expires July 31, 2019.

  • I wish those were available when I was a teen. Oh I remember those days. I was scared to move because I feared I would have a strike through! Anyway, I am glad that there are products like these period panties that help the young girls be as comfortable as possible during their periods.

  • I’ve never tried these but I heard good things about them. They would simplify that time of the month for sure.

  • I wish I had a pair of period panties growing up. I have to make sure to look into getting this for my nieces when the time comes.

  • I work with kids and a lot of my 5th graders are just getting their periods. It is so important to talk openly with them.

  • I love that period items have come so far over the past few years. These pants sound absolutely fab I think I need some myself.
