The holidays can be hectic. Not only are we preparing gifts and meals for our family, but we are also buying and shipping gifts to our loved ones that are in other states.  If you’ve ever shipped anything close to the holidays, you know how hectic it can be.  Buying, wrapping, finding the perfect box, waiting in line, making deadlines… it can all be stressful.  I’m so thankful for The UPS Store. A Time to Give Back

We actually visit our local The UPS Store regularly. It’s one of Falynn’s favorite places to go because she knows there may be a package or two waiting for her.  This year, since we aren’t getting gifts for the girls, we decided to find a child who needed a little extra cheer this year and ship him or her some goodies.  I posted on our Facebook page asking for our followers to nominate a special kid in their lives and my girls chose a little boy named Brentley.

Brentley’s Mama shared his story and we just knew that he was the perfect little boy to ship some extra cheer to.  “My little boy could use a little extra cheer or just some prayers. This year has been a huge roller coaster for him. In April, he completely stopped eating. He is now on a NG feeding tube and will be having surgery for a permanent tube on December 11th. We have been admitted twice into our local children’s hospital & have been back and forth to the ER I can’t tell you how many times, just within a few months. He has been diagnosed with Failure To Thrive, EOE (it’s an allergy disease in his esophagus), & SPD. We are also waiting for him to be tested for Autism in February. He will be doing a sleep study in January because he struggles with breathing in his sleep (possibly sleep apnea) and he will see a neurologist again in January due to him having seizures again. He is only 2 years old and even though he has been through a lot these past few months, he still brings joy and light to our family’s lives as well as others.”

After getting a list of things Brentley loves, we headed to the store and the girls picked out some special gifts for him and wrapped them each so he has plenty to rip open when he receives his box of goodies as soon as he gets home from the hospital.

Convenience and Superior Customer Service

We took our wrapped gifts to our local The UPS Store and handed them to the Certified Packing Expert. He found the perfect sized box (they have just about every size and shape you can imagine), wrapped them up, secured them so that they don’t get damaged and it was ready to ship.  It took less than 5 minutes and I didn’t have to worry about the gifts getting safely to their destination.   There was a small fee for the box which was added to the shipping fee and we got his package out for a very reasonable price!  The best news of all is that he will get his package in just 3 days! If you are a do-it-yourself type, The UPS Store sells the supplies you need to make your package look as good as if they had packed it themselves.

If convenience and superior customer service isn’t enough to get you to visit your local The UPS Store, now through Dec. 31, participating The UPS Store locations will support the Toys for Tots Literacy Program with an in-center donation card drive. The UPS Store network is the exclusive sponsor of the Toys for Tots Literacy Program, an initiative helping give less fortunate children the ability to compete academically and succeed in life by providing them direct access to resources that will enhance their ability to read and communicate effectively.

In the same way we taught our girls of the importance of spreading cheer this holiday season, the Toys for Tots Literacy Program also provides you a great opportunity to teach your children a valuable lesson about helping those in need.  Head into your local The UPS Store for all of your shipping needs!

Don’t forget to keep in mind the deadlines to ship this year:
