Last night was scary. It was full of very loud wind, a lot of rain, multiple tornado warnings and power outages all over Southern Florida. And this is only the beginning for us.
The girls were safe, camping out in my walk-in closet and slept through it all, thankfully. I slept well myself, knowing that they were safe and out of harms way. I did wake up a few times throughout the night because of the banging of a tree against our storm shutters, but I knew that our house is secure and I had nothing to worry about. I woke up to the girls hanging out, as though it was a normal Sunday morning.
This morning, we waited for the rain band to pass and went outside just for a bit. It was drizzling and the winds were present but it was really calm and cool and we were glad to see that there was no damage last night to our neighborhood. We are lucky enough to still have our power and are hoping not to lose it throughout the day and into the night as Hurricane Irma continues to pound Florida.
Looking at the radar, you can see what a scary storm this really is. I’m not sure I can remember a storm with this many tornado warnings. We are constantly bringing the girls back into the safe room, each time the alert sounds on our phones or television. We are grateful for our local tv stations who are doing an incredible job at keeping everyone informed but most of all, calm. We will continue to stay safe and will keep everyone updated. Thank you again for your positive messages. We love and appreciate them so much!
