Last month, I purchased a couple of superhero coloring books for my kids. My girls sat at the table and were creating their colorful masterpieces when my youngest daughter asked if I wanted to color too. It’s not something I had done in years, because I just didn’t think I had the time. But I had such a stressful day and needed to step away from technology for a bit, so I agreed. Once I sat down and started to color, I almost instantly began to relax. I was so focused on the joy in my girls faces and interestingly, so invested in my own artwork, that my cares and worries just drifted away. It’s amazing what an afternoon with your kids and a few superhero coloring pages can do.
Coloring has always been popular with children. I know when I was a kid, it was one of my favorite things to do. Over the last few years, I’ve read more and more studies that show that coloring for adults can be a great way to reduce your stress and anxiety! I had purchased myself an expensive adult coloring book, but never got around to using it. Now, you can find printable coloring pages online that you can print at home for free. It’s a much less expensive option and you can print them when you’re ready.
National Coloring Book Day
August 2nd is National Coloring Book Day! It’s a day to celebrate the joy and happiness we all feel when we color! So in honor of this fun day, I had my 14 year old daughter draw a couple of superheroes and I transformed them into a couple of fun printable superhero coloring pages for you! Now you can print, get out the crayons, markers and colored pencils and celebrate with your family.
It’s easy to celebrate National Coloring Book Day! All you need is a coloring book (or coloring pages like the Superhero Coloring Pages I’m providing below), crayons, markers or colored pencils. Grab your kids, your Grandma, your husband… anyone who needs some down time to relax and be creative.
Once you have finished your coloring page, make sure to post your photos on social media, use #NationalColoringBookDay (and tag @thesupermomlife if you use ours – we’d love that) and encourage others to join in the fun!
A Little Behind the Scenes Creating our Superhero Coloring Pages
My daughter actually had to download a new program to create these. She found out, after she was done, that it had been recording her progress the entire time. I don’t know who was more excited, her or me, because I could put together this little video for you. I’m so proud of Lucia. She’s incredibly talented and I’m hoping I can convince her to draw more coloring pages to share with you.
