Thanksgiving is one of my favorite holidays. I love the days of preparing and cooking. I love sitting down for a big meal with our family. I love hearing what everyone is thankful for. But keeping the kids entertained while the grown-ups are in the kitchen has always been a concern. This year, I decided to create a Thanksgiving placemat to help.

Since I’m sure we can’t be the only family that struggles with keeping the kids busy while we are cooking, I thought it would be a great idea to offer the Thanksgiving placemat as a free printable to all of you. I hope that you will be able to print it out and use it for years to come.

When we were creating this, I wanted to make sure that I put a few of our favorite things onto the Thanksgiving placemat. I also wanted to make sure that we had enough things to entertain all ages. So the younger kids can color while the older kids can work on the word search and word scramble.

First, there is a box for each child to write all of the things they are thankful for this year. I love saving things like this so that we can look back on them as my kids get older.

We wanted to make sure there were plenty of things to color so my oldest daughter hand drew this adorable turkey and we added in Fall leaves and a pumpkin. The kids can also color in the words “Happy Thanksgiving” as well. Just grab some crayons, colored pencils or markers.

I’ve always been a fan of word scrambles. All of the words we scrambled are Thanksgiving related words. Can you guess them all? We didn’t include the answer key, but if you need one, I’m more than happy to send one over to you. Just shoot me an email.

The Thanksgiving word search was super fun to make. I actually found a website where you enter the words, tell it how many rows and columns and it creates the word search for you. What a fun tool!

Finally, we had to include three Thanksgiving-themed jokes because everyone loves to laugh. I hope you will think they are as funny as we do.

Want to Save Paper?

If you have a laminating machine, laminate your Thanksgiving placemat and use a dry-erase marker on each of the activities. Just wipe off the marker and do it again and again. This will also help to keep food off of the placemat. My 13 year old thought of this. She’s pretty genius, isn’t she?

Free printable Thanksgiving placemat
