It is my favorite time of the year! Time to bring out all of the Halloween decor and start coming up with fun, easy ideas that the kids can be a part of. These vampire donuts are always a hit.
All you need are four things from the store and five minutes! They are great for an after-school treat, a Halloween party, or even to bring to work! You can get creative with them and add hair, or extra blood. Have fun with them!
Before I share how to make these vampire donuts, let me share a few tips.
You can buy the vampire teeth at any party store. They likely have them at the dollar store as well. I found these vampire teeth at Target. They were only $3.00 for 24. They have a variety of colors too.
I also found the candy eyes at Target. They are great to have on hand in your home. Adding eyeballs to food makes everything more fun for your kids.
For the blood, you can use red icing or red gel. I found this fun glitter gel at Target. If you look at it closely, it sparkles, which was fun!
I love making these vampire donuts for my kids to take to school. Not only do they have a yummy treat, but when they are all done, they have vampire teeth to play with. What’s better than a treat and a toy combined?
I do recommend cleaning the vampire teeth before you insert them into the donuts. Kids will put them immediately into their mouths, the first chance they get, so the cleaner, the better.
Do you have to use a specific flavor of donuts?
No, you don’t! I went to our local grocery store and picked up a variety of donuts that they had available. Powdered, glazed, chocolate frosted… it really doesn’t matter as long as they have a hole in the center! You do want to make sure that they are the standard size. If they are too small, they will likely break in half when you add the teeth.
How do you stick the eyes on?
Depending on the type of donut you have, you may not need anything. I just place them on top of the donut and press lightly until they stick. If you have a donut that doesn’t have anything sticky on top, you can use a tiny bit of icing or gel on the back. This will help them to stick to the donut and not fall off when someone picks one up out of the box.
I’ve tried to show the steps in the photos above for you, to make it a bit easier to make these vampire donuts.
Step 1: Place a donut on a plate.
Step 2: Fold the vampire teeth and insert them into the donut hole.
Step 3: Add two candy eyes above the mouth.
Step 4: Squirt some red icing or gel from the mouth.
