It’s the most wonderful time of the year and you know what that means…. time to duck and dodge those icky cold and flu germs! It seems like everywhere we go, people are coughing, sneezing or wiping their nose onto their hands. YUCK! There’s no easy way to steer clear of those germs and I haven’t found a family-sized bubble on the market yet, so instead, I pack my family a Cold and Flu Season Kit. It contains everything you need for the season, in an easy to carry bag. My girls stick it in their backpacks and we keep one in the car. It’s become a must-have for our family!

Since we are constantly asked about these cute little kits, I thought it was finally time that I share what you need to stock up on, to make your own. They are an inexpensive way to make sure you have everything you need to keep the germs away, and to fight them off if they get you or your family.

What’s Inside our Cold and Flu Season Kit?

Clear Travel Bag: While there are a bunch of clear travel bags on the market, I highly recommend getting a clear travel bag that is TSA-approved. While you may not be using it for travel now, you will have one handy for your next trip!

Immune Support TheraZinc Lozenges: These come in two delicious flavors (blood orange and elderberry raspberry) and are perfect to boost your immune system when it needs it most. I always pack a few of each flavor in our kits.

Cough Relief Lozenges:These lozenges are a must-have for us all year long, but especially during winter months. They help to sooth your throat and are made from the highest quality ingredients. They are available in two flavors, bing cherry and meyer lemon with honey.

1 oz Hand Sanitizer: Make sure to get a flip top dispenser bottle so it doesn’t spill. Hand sanitizer kill 99.99% of germs that may cause illness in as little as 15 seconds. I also prefer the sanitizer that contains moisturizers to leave hands feeling soft and refreshed and not sticky like some can leave you feeling.

Lip Balm: It’s so important to hydrate and sooth dry lips, especially when the temperatures drop. We recommend lip balms that contain 100% natural ingredients.

Travel Size First Aid Kit: A first aid kit is a great year-round tool for your kids to take to school. They include essential first aid items like hand cleansing wipes and bandages. If your kids are anything like mine, they are always looking for a bandage!

TheraZinc Elderberry Lozenges: These lozenges contain zinc, proven in clinical studies to strengthen the immune system, and elderberry which together provide a more effective boost. TheraZinc releases zinc ions in your mouth and throat for all around support. They are flavored with raspberry, so they taste great. My kids love them!

Individual Pack of Tissues: When you have kids, these little packs are the best! It beats giving them a handful of tissues and having them come back with a crazy mess in their backpacks!

TheraZinc Spray: This spray gives you the most immediate dose of zinc gluconate for immune support, soothing your throat with oils and extracts. It provides a full dose of effective zinc, menthol, clove bud and peppermint oil, along with cherry bark and slippery elm extract.

Believe it or not, these cold and flu season kits are a real hit with my kids’ friends. They are always prepared when a friend is in need and I make sure to have extras at home so if they run out of anything, they can stock up before the following school day. You can never be too prepared, especially during cold and flu season!

  1. It’s always good to have a kit on hand of everything you need when you’re sick. I hate having to search for everything.

  2. Clear bags are kind of a big deal nowadays since we need them for everything from concerts to travel. They are so handy!

  3. I think this is such a wonderful idea. I’m going to have to make a few of these now. I really love this idea! I think it would be great for everyone in my home to have their own.

  4. We love Quantum Health Zinc products too! They are so delicious and really do help stave off sickness.

  5. What a great idea to carry around! You can never be too careful especially with all of the germs floating around!

  6. I love it. We do everything we can to keep from getting the flu and colds, but when we do get them, we have a kit ready.

  7. It sounds liek you have thought of everything! I am so glad flu and cold season has just about passed here so I have time to stock up before the fall.

  8. These individual bags are such a great idea! My family all around the country are catching the season’s bug. I will let them know about these items. I’ve started taking elderberry immune boost gummies — I think they’re working! Just heard about elderberry & its great properties!

  9. The family has all been sick twice the past couple months already so my fingers are crossed we are over it! I like this little bag idea though- its cute and so convenient. 🙂

  10. What a great kit! Between this and my Medicine Bomb Chicken Soup, the cold and flu won’t have a chance around here!

  11. Ahh, I definitely need a kit like this! I am always the first who get the flu virus. It’s so annoying when I have it!

  12. I couldn’t agree more on having something like this during cold season. Definitely a kit that people should always have in their home or bags to be able to get ready. Better ready than sorry.

  13. I think that is such a great idea to have a cold and flu season kit. It is great to be prepared that not. I will share this to my cousins.

  14. Having a kit like this for the winter season is so important. I know that we have slowly been making ours so we are prepared.

  15. I recently moved to North America and I’m only realizing now how the change of weather can affect ones health! Having a kit like this is must to survive the change from fall to winter, this is surely an idea I will adopt.

  16. We always have a cold/flu kit. With our cold winters and what seems like super long cold/flu season, it’s a must. These are great options.

  17. Oh yes! Most of this season I am always getting cough/colds and I really need this kit! I am glad that those tips are really important and looks so effective. Thanks for this!!

  18. What a great idea for cold and flu season. I haven’t heard of that zinc spray, but it sounds great. I have those zinc lozenges and they are great for when you feel a cold coming on.

  19. It’s a great idea to send these kits with your kids! I should put one together for the office.

  20. There is nothing better than being prepared for the flu season. I love this idea! I would put some ginger drops in my bag for an upset tummy. They work wonders when your stomach feels off.

  21. One of my go-to preventatives is Oregano Oil. Don’t think your kids would appreciate that in their kits. It’s quite disgusting!

  22. This is such a great idea of something to always have this time of year! WE love using Zinc products when we feel illness coming on.

  23. This is so cute! What a way to make staying healthy fun. I actually think I’m going to make one of these for my mom. I know she would love having something like this in her purse

  24. Zinc is very effective on me for stopping a cold in its tracks. I do love the kit, though, because I travel a lot.

  25. I just caught the flu few weeks back and it was really bad. I wanna try the therazinc spray too! I love that it has natural oils to help with soothing the throat. Will have to save this for next time.

  26. Cold and Flu Season Kit Is a must have and your article is spot on. Thanks for the inspiration.

  27. We have been spared by the flu and most colds so far this season but last year was brutal. We definitely needed a kit like this then.

  28. Such great tips right here 🙂 It is Summer here in Australia, but I will definitely keep this in mind for next season.

  29. I love the idea of a cold and flu season kit. These are all great ideas for things to have stocked in one.

  30. I need to get a clear bag for travel as I hate having to buy the throw away ones. These are items that are always good to have on hand.

  31. I need to make a kit like this for sure. I just hate when someone gets sick. It’ll be nice to have this on hand in case someone does.

  32. Lip balm is a must. You lose so many fluids and lips get all parched and dry. I stock up on travel size OTCs and pack a get well bag for my college kid.

  33. I 100% need to look into making something like this, I’m bound to come down with a stinker of a cold at some point and so having a kit ready and waiting is such a good idea.

  34. Strapping that to a kid’s backpack is genius! Doing that this weekend for sure. Thanks for the tip, I can’t believe i had not thought of that earlier.

  35. Love this idea of making a cold and flu season kit. Have to check with the school to see what is allowed. My grandchildren are to young for this yet. Can be kept in my car for myself.

  36. I am recovering from a cold and there’s nothing worse to have when you travel. I always have my medicine bag with me but sometimes the viruses are stronger than all the measures we do to prevent getting them.

  37. I never took these lozenges but zinc is a great nutrient for so many things. I will remember this remedy when the kids get sick this winter.

  38. I agree we need this for this flu season! I am always washing my hands and taking Zinc so that I can stay healthy.

  39. I need to make up a kit like this for myself. As a teacher, I’m exposed to just about every cold and flu that comes down the pipe. It’s awful this time of year. LOL

  40. That’s a great kit to have on hand during cold and flu season. I have most of those things but I do need to replenish my supply and grab a couple of the items you mentioned.
