It’s the most wonderful time of the year and you know what that means…. time to duck and dodge those icky cold and flu germs! It seems like everywhere we go, people are coughing, sneezing or wiping their nose onto their hands. YUCK! There’s no easy way to steer clear of those germs and I haven’t found a family-sized bubble on the market yet, so instead, I pack my family a Cold and Flu Season Kit. It contains everything you need for the season, in an easy to carry bag. My girls stick it in their backpacks and we keep one in the car. It’s become a must-have for our family!
Since we are constantly asked about these cute little kits, I thought it was finally time that I share what you need to stock up on, to make your own. They are an inexpensive way to make sure you have everything you need to keep the germs away, and to fight them off if they get you or your family.
What’s Inside our Cold and Flu Season Kit?
Clear Travel Bag: While there are a bunch of clear travel bags on the market, I highly recommend getting a clear travel bag that is TSA-approved. While you may not be using it for travel now, you will have one handy for your next trip!
Immune Support TheraZinc Lozenges: These come in two delicious flavors (blood orange and elderberry raspberry) and are perfect to boost your immune system when it needs it most. I always pack a few of each flavor in our kits.
Cough Relief Lozenges:These lozenges are a must-have for us all year long, but especially during winter months. They help to sooth your throat and are made from the highest quality ingredients. They are available in two flavors, bing cherry and meyer lemon with honey.
1 oz Hand Sanitizer: Make sure to get a flip top dispenser bottle so it doesn’t spill. Hand sanitizer kill 99.99% of germs that may cause illness in as little as 15 seconds. I also prefer the sanitizer that contains moisturizers to leave hands feeling soft and refreshed and not sticky like some can leave you feeling.
Lip Balm: It’s so important to hydrate and sooth dry lips, especially when the temperatures drop. We recommend lip balms that contain 100% natural ingredients.
Travel Size First Aid Kit: A first aid kit is a great year-round tool for your kids to take to school. They include essential first aid items like hand cleansing wipes and bandages. If your kids are anything like mine, they are always looking for a bandage!
TheraZinc Elderberry Lozenges: These lozenges contain zinc, proven in clinical studies to strengthen the immune system, and elderberry which together provide a more effective boost. TheraZinc releases zinc ions in your mouth and throat for all around support. They are flavored with raspberry, so they taste great. My kids love them!
Individual Pack of Tissues: When you have kids, these little packs are the best! It beats giving them a handful of tissues and having them come back with a crazy mess in their backpacks!
TheraZinc Spray: This spray gives you the most immediate dose of zinc gluconate for immune support, soothing your throat with oils and extracts. It provides a full dose of effective zinc, menthol, clove bud and peppermint oil, along with cherry bark and slippery elm extract.
Believe it or not, these cold and flu season kits are a real hit with my kids’ friends. They are always prepared when a friend is in need and I make sure to have extras at home so if they run out of anything, they can stock up before the following school day. You can never be too prepared, especially during cold and flu season!

Strapping that to a kid’s backpack is genius! Doing that this weekend for sure. Thanks for the tip, I can’t believe i had not thought of that earlier.
Love this idea of making a cold and flu season kit. Have to check with the school to see what is allowed. My grandchildren are to young for this yet. Can be kept in my car for myself.
I am recovering from a cold and there’s nothing worse to have when you travel. I always have my medicine bag with me but sometimes the viruses are stronger than all the measures we do to prevent getting them.
I never took these lozenges but zinc is a great nutrient for so many things. I will remember this remedy when the kids get sick this winter.
I agree we need this for this flu season! I am always washing my hands and taking Zinc so that I can stay healthy.
I need to make up a kit like this for myself. As a teacher, I’m exposed to just about every cold and flu that comes down the pipe. It’s awful this time of year. LOL
That’s a great kit to have on hand during cold and flu season. I have most of those things but I do need to replenish my supply and grab a couple of the items you mentioned.
