What do you do when you live in Florida and your kids have always wanted to have a snow ball fight? You make your own snow! While it’s not icy or even cold, it is an easy and fun craft for kids that live in warmer climate areas. With just 2 main ingredients, you can make a big batch of snow for less than $5!
When I told my girls that we would be making snow, they were ecstatic. Like most kids, they love to make slime, so this was along the same lines for them. It’s a fun and inexpensive experiment that they will love.
How to Make DIY Snow
- 1lb box baking soda
- Approx 1/2 container shaving cream
Add both ingredients to a bowl and mix together with your hands until easily formed into a snowball.
Once you’ve created your snow, it’s time to have a little fun. You can build a snowman or have a snow fight. My kids are planning on making a much bigger batch next time so that they can make snow angels in our backyard.
Our Suggestions
While this is a bit messy, you can make things easier on yourself by putting a large sheet or towel down on the floor. If you choose to have a snow fight, like my girls did, do it in your front or back yard, where it can easily be washed away. Make sure that they don’t aim for the face as I wouldn’t want to get any of it in their eyes. Also, have your kids wash their hands right after they are done and make sure they don’t put any in their mouth. I know, common sense, but I wouldn’t be a protective Mama if I didn’t share concerns (especially for the little ones).

Indeed such a cool post! Here in my country, we didn’t have snow season. So, who would not love to have this, we could try this snow diy!
I would like to try it with my kids, looks very fun project an that too require only two ingredients. Getting snow here is not that easy so this will work.
I love that stuff! Fake snow is so much fun! Thanks for sharing the recipe!
We have some flurries this week and more coming the next few days. But a DIY snow is something else. I know my kid is going to like making his own snow. Thanks for sharing!
I have homemade a lot of things, but never snow. It looks pretty easy. We will have to give it a try.
