We are always reading in our house, so we are super excited to be a #PenguinKidsPartner and share a new book by @robbtopp, called Wink. ⁣
⁣
This hilarious and heart-wrenching story is about surviving middle-school with an unthinkable diagnosis, rare eye cancer. It’s a story of survival and finding the music, magic and laughter in life’s weirdness. ⁣
⁣
Iyla is about half way through it and can’t put it down. She loves it because it shows that no matter what your situation, you can make the best of it! I love the message it shares. I’m always telling the girls to embrace their “weird” because it’s what makes them unique. The world would be such a boring place if we were all the same. ⁣
⁣
If your middle-reader is looking for a new book, we highly recommend Wink from @PenguinKids. It’s available now! ⁣

“What if we capture the beauty of the whole world in ONE big, bold book? A book that will transport readers to countries across the globe, one bedtime story at a time?” AD: What if I told you that book exists? The Book of Cultures is a 120 page book featuring 30 illustrated stories with characters from different countries, alongside activity pages with puzzles and fun facts. With everything going on in the world, now is the time to teach your children how important it is to embrace diverse perspectives, be tolerant and compassionate and understand how to cooperate with people from all corners of the planet. We are all human beings and we all have so much to teach one another. The Book of Cultures is available for the next 15 days on Kickstarter. It’s funny the things that I miss most. Often when the girls achieved something big, we would take them to this little ice cream shop by our home for a treat. But we can’t do that now. Our state is under a stay home order through at least May. And while we don’t NEED to go places, I miss the freedom to be able to do so. I miss not having to disinfect every single grocery item before we can put it away. I miss impromptu trips to Target. ⁣
⁣
But... we haven’t left the house in almost three weeks. Because, eventually we will be able to get back to normal and drive wherever we want and spend money on things we probably don’t need. And our sacrifice for a month or two, or four, is so that our brave health workers and essential employees are not put in any additional danger. And to me, that’s worth the tiny inconvenience of being asked not to leave the house. ⁣

#ad This is a time of uncertainty throughout the world. As a self-employed family, we are having to make important decisions, to make sure that we are saving and spending our money wisely.⁣
⁣
After spending this past week looking at our bills, we realized that our mobile bill is way too high. We need to be able to stay connected, but we don’t need to spend a fortune to do it. We just switched Super Dad over to @mintmobile. ⁣
⁣
There are so many reasons to love Mint Mobile (and not just because Ryan Reynolds is the owner… yes, that Ryan Reynolds)! Mint Mobile lets you keep your number. They offer nationwide coverage and their 4G LTE runs on the nation’s fastest, most advanced networks. The company is online only so they cut out the middlemen and can pass the savings onto us! ⁣

It’s FALL! You know what that means? Pumpkin EVERYTHING. Call me basic if you want, but it’s a must for Fall. Give me all the pumpkin lattes, pumpkin breads and most of all, pumpkin desserts! And while pumpkin spice is delicious and we have to consume everything we can during Fall because pumpkin season will be gone in the blink of an eye, with pumpkin desserts comes sugar (in most cases at least).  So if pumpkin is this Super Mom’s kryptonite, I have to make sure I’m stocked up on our secret weapon. Especially when it comes to our favorite fall pumpkin dessert recipes.

Pumpkin Streusel Bars

pumpkin dessert recipes, pumpkin spice, pumpkin, fall recipe, fall, pumpkin dessert, pumpkin spice dessert, recipe, recipes, kid foods, mom blog, mom blogger, mom bloggers, mom blogs, family friendly dishes, recipes, recipe, food blog, food bloggers

When you find a site called Sally’s Baking Addiction, you can be relatively sure that you are going to find some incredible recipes. And boy did I.  These delicious bars feature a gingersnap crust and brown sugar streusel topping, with a combo of pumpkin pie and cheesecake in the center. YUM! It’s like everything Fall in one bite but I can guarantee one bite won’t be enough. Check out the full recipe here.

Salted Caramel Pumpkin Cheesecake

pumpkin dessert recipes, pumpkin spice, pumpkin, fall recipe, fall, pumpkin dessert, pumpkin spice dessert, recipe, recipes, kid foods, mom blog, mom blogger, mom bloggers, mom blogs, family friendly dishes, recipes, recipe, food blog, food bloggers

This beautiful slice of heaven is a recipe I found on It’s a Mother Thing. It combines two of my all-time favorite things, pumpkin and caramel. And while I’m not a huge cheesecake fan, this one far surpassed my expectations. Going somewhere special for the holidays? Anyone can bring a pumpkin pie, this salted caramel pumpkin cheesecake will help you stand out and have your hosts begging for the recipe. Check out the full recipe here.

Super Easy Pumpkin Pull Apart Bread

pumpkin dessert recipes, pumpkin spice, pumpkin, fall recipe, fall, pumpkin dessert, pumpkin spice dessert, recipe, recipes, kid foods, mom blog, mom blogger, mom bloggers, mom blogs, family friendly dishes, recipes, recipe, food blog, food bloggers

The picture alone had me drooling. Sweet Life of Anna describes this as a combination of pumpkin bread and cinnamon rolls. Say. No. More. And best part is that when it says “Easy”, she means easy. It’s actually made of biscuits and pumpkin pie mix, and like a handful of spices and milk. Check out the full recipe here.

Pumpkin Pie Caramel Popcorn

pumpkin dessert recipes, pumpkin spice, pumpkin, fall recipe, fall, pumpkin dessert, pumpkin spice dessert, recipe, recipes, kid foods, mom blog, mom blogger, mom bloggers, mom blogs, family friendly dishes, recipes, recipe, food blog, food bloggers

The one thing you will always find in our home is popcorn. My kids are actually eating some as I write this (not even joking).  And when they found out that the hotel we were staying at this weekend, puts out fresh popcorn at night, they actually cheered loud enough for the other guests to stop and look over. When I found this recipe on I Dig Pinterest, I knew that they were going to love it. And boy, was I right. They loved it so much, I didn’t even get a bite! Note to self, if I want to taste it, I should do it before giving the bowl to my kids. Check out the full recipe here.

I think it is smart to use pumpkin as the replacement for sugar. I personally love pumpkin anyway but never thought of using it on desserts. Typically I will roast them in the oven and my kids also love them as well. I think the cheesecake sounds delicious and I think I might just try to make one over this weekend. Thx
