I am aspiring to be my best self this year. That means, no more excuses about exercising, eating better, and being much more organized in all aspects of my life, including making sure my kids have better breakfast options available on school days. Last week, I made a batch of homemade Greek yogurt waffles with FAGE Total Plain and had to share the recipe with you because they are so delicious.

These Greek yogurt waffles are packed with protein and because they make 24 four-inch waffles, I can make a batch, freeze them and the girls can pop them in the toaster in the morning, before school for a quick and delicious breakfast.

The secret to the perfect homemade waffle is quality ingredients, knowing how much batter to use for each waffle and how much time to cook each one. I use a four-inch waffle iron, but this batter can also be used in a Belgium waffle iron, yielding 6 or so waffles.

For the four-inch waffle iron, you’ll want to use 2 tablespoons of batter per waffle. Anything more and it will leak out of the sides. I cook my waffles for 3 minutes each and they come out perfectly golden brown, with a little bit of crunch.

If you’re making these to freeze, you can put them in a freezer-safe container or storage bag for two to three months (though they don’t usually last that long in our house). When you’re ready to eat them, put them in the toaster, on the lightest setting and they will come out warm and crispy on the outside and perfectly fluffy on the inside.

We like our Greek yogurt waffles a little on the sweet side, so I use both sugar and honey. You are welcome to leave that out if you’d like.

My kids love them so much, they eat them plain! But you can also top them with fresh berries, maple syrup, honey, or powdered sugar. You can even use them as the bread for a breakfast sandwich!

Lactose-Free Greek Yogurt Waffles with FAGE BestSelf

If you want to make these Greek yogurt waffles lactose-free, it’s just a few simple changes that you’ll need to make to my recipe.

Why I Choose FAGE

If it’s one thing I’ve learned over the years, it’s that when you’re cooking, the ingredients make all the difference. I choose FAGE Greek yogurt because of its high quality and its great taste! And while I love the blended varieties with fresh fruit and honey, the Total Plain Greek yogurt works so well, in so many recipes, including these Greek yogurt waffles.

I love that FAGE also has a lactose-free option. FAGE BestSelf is real dairy Greek yogurt without the lactose. It has the rich, creamy goodness of dairy with 100% natural ingredients. It’s Non-GMO Project Verified, protein-rich, low fat, and made with milk from non-GMO fed cows.

FAGE BestSelf is available in plain, vanilla, strawberry, blueberry, and peach. Visit FAGE’s website to find FAGE products online or in a store near you.

Step 1: Mix eggs, milk, FAGE Total Plain Greek yogurt, vanilla, and honey together.

Step 2: Add in all dry ingredients and combine.

Step 3: Spray your waffle iron with cooking spray.

Step 4: Pour batter.

Step 5: Close the waffle iron and let cook until golden brown.
