We partnered with Disney Book Group to celebrate Mo Willems’ annual Thank-o-Rama celebration, a month long celebration in May derived from the final book in the Elephant & Piggie series, The Thank You Book. It’s a celebration of thanking all, especially children, for being readers.
Elephant & Piggie Like Reading! is an early-reader series created and co-edited by Mo Willems. The series features exciting new stories from renowned, award-winning children’s book authors and illustrators. Harold & Hog Pretend for Real! is the 6th book in the Elephant & Piggie Like Reading! series and is in stores now!
Falynn can’t stop reading it.
In honor of Thank-o-Rama, Falynn was sent the newest Elephant & Piggie Like Reading! book, Harold & Hog Pretend for Real! along with some fun goodies including sidewalk chalk, chalkboard contact paper and paper photo props.
Her assignment? Use the chalk to write down everything she’s thankful for.
Falynn’s mind immediately went to work. I was expecting a list of things like applesauce, wi-fi and surprise eggs, but she completely shocked and pleased me with her answers. I couldn’t be more proud. At the top of her list, Mo Willems, her favorite author of all time. In addition, things like “responsibilities, my life and sunsets”. Melt. I really lucked out with this one.
About Harold and Hog Pretend for Real!
Hog is careful. Harold is not.
Harold cannot help smiling. Hog can.
Hog worries so that Harold does not have to.
Harold and Hog are best friends. But can Harold and Hog’s friendship survive a game of pretending to be Elephant & Piggie?

If you’re looking for a great series, Falynn highly recommends Elephant & Piggie! She loves to read them with different voices, as she imagines each character would sound. If you have the opportunity, ask your child to make a list of things that they are thankful for. I think you may be surprised about their answers as well. Plus, you’ll have a great keepsake that you can look back on years from now.

That’s cute! It looks like your daughter really loves to read and that’s a wonderful thing. I love all the things she’s thankful for.
This would be a lovely exercise to do with my kids. I am going to have to look into the Thankorama.
So cute of your daughter with her thankful board! I love these kinds of books when my boys were little too!
Aw, I love her list of things she’s grateful for! How cute that she thought to put her fav. author at the top of the list! 🙂
These are the moments moms live for and I am so happy you shared your moment with us. I love it.
I think that’s a great list of things to be thankful for. My daughters also love these kinds of books. We have not read this one yet, nor did we know about it til recently. I have it on reserve at our library, and it should be in soon. We can’t wait to read it!
Very sweet pictures! I love how she included God and Jesus on her thankful board!!
