You don’t need much time and money to show your loved ones how much you love them on Valentine’s Day. I’m about to share the easiest and yummiest treat. All you need are three ingredients and a few minutes from your busy day. Valentine pretzel hugs are the perfect balance of salty and sweet and might become your new favorite treat.

Parent life can be hectic. Between school, extracurricular activities, and my daily routine, I have limited time to make special treats for my family. So when I find easy, quick options that the kids can help with, it’s hard to resist.

These valentine pretzel hugs are not only so delicious, but they took just minutes to make. I’ve seen so many variations of this particular treat throughout the years. You can make them for any holiday just by switching the m&m colors. You can even make them rainbow for pride month. The possibilities are endless.

I love the salty and sweet combination. These valentine pretzel hugs have a perfect balance. Everyone in my family loves them (and if you’ve been following us for a while, you know that with my picky eaters, this doesn’t happen often).

what you’ll need:

Aside from the ingredients, you only need a baking sheet and parchment paper. I highly recommend pop up parchment sheets over the roll. They lay flat, and you don’t have to worry about keeping the corners down.

You may want to prep the hugs by removing the wrapping before you get started. I also sort the m&m’s by removing all of the white ones. You can use them, but I love the contrast between the red and pinks.

While you don’t necessarily “NEED” these, I have to share these adorable towels I got from Geometry House. They have so many cute designs for every occasion and are absorbent. They are the ONLY towels we’ve used in our home since we learned about them. Their new Valentine’s Day line had so many that I loved I wound up with three. ingredients:

You’ll want to grab some square pretzels. While you can use any shape, these will ensure that they don’t get super messy.

Next, you’ll need Hershey’s hugs. Hershey’s hugs are milk chocolate hugged by white creme. These are perfect because they are delicious and give your valentine pretzel hugs such a fancy aesthetic.

Finally, you’ll need a bag of Valentine’s Day m&m’s. The bag will contain red, two shades of pink and white. If you want to save money, you can grab some Christmas m&m’s on clearance and pull the red ones out. Save the green and white for St. Patrick’s Day!

tips:

Make sure to space your pretzels out on the baking sheet. I give it about an inch between each one. This will help them not to collide and get messy.

When placing the hugs on the pretzels, try your best to place them in the center. There will be much more chance that the chocolate will stay on the pretzel.

Do not keep your valentine pretzel hugs in the oven for too long. You don’t want them to be melted; you want the hugs to be soft enough to hold the M&M’s. So don’t walk away from the oven.

steps to make valentine pretzel hugs

What are the steps to make valentine pretzel hugs?

It’s incredibly easy to make valentine pretzel hugs. Here are the steps:

  1. Preheat oven to 300º. Line a baking sheet with parchment paper and line up pretzels about an inch apart. I can fit 24 on a large baking sheet.
  2. Place one hug on each pretzel, as close to the center as possible.
  3. Place the baking sheet in the oven for 3-4 minutes. You want the hugs to be soft, not melted.
  4. Remove the baking sheet from the oven and immediately place one m&m on top of each hug, pressing gently. You don’t want the chocolate from the hug to go over the pretzel edges. Place the baking sheet into the refrigerator for 15-30 minutes.
